Dolby Vision

Hello all,

New here to putting my movies on a server. I need some help. Please speak to me like a child...i am old..lol

1. can emby using a roku ultra player play dolby vision rips?

2. I can not seem to find a good compression tool to help compress my mkv's to a smaller file and keeping dolby vision. Is there anything out there for this or does compressing loose all dolby vision?

Yes, but as there are multiple DV profiles - ensure both your TV and the Roku can play them.   I would sugest profile 8.x as that will be the most compatible.

It's possible but not technically easy.  You have to extract the Dolby layer, compress the video and then re-apply the layer again.   It's probably easier if you simply get a lower bandwidth version to begin with.
