Checkoutside 17 Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Since the update to 4.8.11 I have been seeing little glitches in playback of .mkv files that had no issue on 41.8.10, mostly in a sound skip for a brief but noticable time. This is the Windows version server, playing on a Sony TV (and also a Onn 4k Pro) using the Android TV app. If I use the standard Android app it is actually worse. The versions of those apps are whatever they updated to automatically. The standard Android app is always a problem anyway, and the photo viewing on the standard app I am assuming may never get fixed as it has been out there for a long time now, and yes, I posted about it, sent you pictures, you said you do see the issue but it is still not fixed. That was like October or earlier. Anyway, I was wondering if it is possible to just run the 4.8.10 file to downgrade to be sure.
Luke 42078 Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Hi, you can, but its only bug fixes so there's really no reason to. Let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Checkoutside 17 Posted March 20, 2025 Author Posted March 20, 2025 Here is the file, I am not sure if this is the one or if you need one of the others. Let me know. The file that glitched was being played from 09:44 to 10:33. The glitches do NOT always occur at the same time in the file. If it glitches I can rewind and watch it again usually with no glitching. So it appears to NOT be file specific. Something else is causing it. embyserver-03202025.txt

Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks. 1
Checkoutside 17 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 While I understand that you guys like to push the "standard" app, if you read my original post I think you will see my feelings on that!

Checkoutside 17 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 Well, I usually have the standard app installed anyway. I just looked and the version I have is 3.4.36, which is interesting because when I look at the Emby Latest Versions topic, it says 3.4.20 is the latest stable version. It would be nice to have an area that accurately tells us what the latest versions are! I am NOT loading up a test version. And until that app gets the viewing of photos fixed, I can not even begin to think of that app seriously. While I understand that many of your users do not even use the photo viewing function, it is a big one for me and in the standard app that has been broken for a LONG time. So when that is finally corrected, I might look at it again. All that being said, I am exploring a different angle. It MIGHT be that my sound issue has nothing to do with Emby itself. I have a soundbar connected to this setup, and it might be part of the issue. So for a few days I have it disconnected and will just use the TV speakers. Then I will know if it MIGHT be related to Emby. I will say that no other apps show this issue, but I would like to know for sure.
Luke 42078 Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 We should have an update in the store soon. Checkoutside 17 Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 As I have not regularly used that standard app, only checking every once in a while to see if it was fixed, I do not honestly know. I will check after it gets updated automatically, and if that part looks ok, I could try it again. As I said I normally have both app versions installed, so it is not a big deal to try it. 1

Checkoutside 17 Posted April 4, 2025 Author Posted April 4, 2025 So after my last post, I have not had any instances of this issue so I am thinking it is NOT an Emby issue at all, but something in my setup. My apologies! I did try the Standard Android app for a few days and I still do NOT like it at all. There is just something about it that I do not care for. And as before, there are a few playback issues with it that just never show up in the Android TV app. Nothing specific, but I have never had a smooth run in the Standard app. And again, the photo viewing problem means it is a no go for me. Somewhere down the road, I hope you get it sorted, but until the photo viewing is fixed, I can not go any further with it. Thanks for all your efforts!
