Reset server password on ipad

Please can someone help, I am locked out of my server account and I don’t understand the instructions to reset my password.

When I follow the on screen prompts it says to reset I have to go to my server and then use the 4 digit number to reset but when I press the link nothing happens when I press it I have cut and paste it in and I have tried via my server then when I press ‘got it’ it just disappears. 

I am supposed to see a txt box with the passcode but I can’t find where on my server that is supposed to be it really frustrating because I am locked out of my Emby account on my iPad and there isn’t an obvious place to get any official help..

Can anyone help my reset the account it’s my user on for access to my server not the Emby connect.

That appears to be Android server - and that path is path on server machine, it won't be same on your Mac. You need to either access it as a network share or directly on server machine.

Thanks for responding, I don’t understand how to do either of those things can you send instructions, I am assuming this has something to do the fact that I am using an nvidia. I have opened the Emby account on my shield first and then on my ipad.

What does that mean? That you have installed Emby server on your Shield or? If you did, how have you accessed it and populated it with media?

My Emby server is on my shield I then opened an account on my ipad linked it to my shield server and put in my user password and accessed it on my ipad. I had to pay for 2 accounts but they have always been linked

My Emby account on my shield has not been affected it still works the password issue is just on my ipad.

the Emby server on my shield won’t open a browser it just says I can do that from there although it use to.

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding all those "accounts", but either way: you need to be able to access filesystem on your Shield (either directly from Shield via any File Manager or over the network via PC, tablet or mobile phone) to access passwordreset.txt file. For access over network, you need to have that option turned on.

I have installed a file manager and I can see part source/emulate/0 but nothing beyond that the problem is that on my shield the password still works so I can access my movies etc I tried logging out and then going back in on shield hoping that I would get a prompt to reset my password but rather than the prompt to put in a password it just goes straight back in like the password is stored somewhere on my shield or in another place

what I need is to be able to access Emby via my ipad are there instructions as to how to do this it feels like I am going to have to delete everything and start again. I don’t have a pc only a Mac mini or ipad and iPhone the shield is the only thing I have that is android.

the network does allow me access I now have a file manager saved on my shield but it’s doesnt show me the Emby folder , is there a recommend file manager I should use on my shield.

Since my shield is working is there a way to just set up Emby on my ipad with a separate server and not use the one on my shield rather than them be linked because I have paid for 1 Emby account on my iPad and 1 on my shield.

If you're able to login on the Shield, then at this point you can click your user profile in the top right and change your password. If you can't login anywhere, then you'll need to use the forgot password process.

We don't currently have an Emby Server for iPad, just the client player. Does this help?

No that didn’t work because when I log out it takes me to a a screen which say local host, enter manually and sign out of connect.

when I choose local host it just logs me straight back in, when I chose manually it asks for the ip address and when entered logs me back in and the connect password is not the problem that one works.

For some reason I am locked out of the local host on the ipad only.

If it's all the same server then what I said is correct. You've forgotten the password of your local user which is why you can't sign in on the iPad. You said you can log straight in on the Shield, so now you can do that to change your password to something new and then use that on the ipad.

Thank you I understand so my next question is can you tell me exactly where I find that option because I haven't seen it.

Have you clicked your user icon in the top right and gone into settings?

Yes the only choices are sign out of connect, switch server or just sign out..I have tried all of those and I end up back in the same place, which is the Home Screen of my Emby log back in.. 

The only other things at the top right are a search permission and the cog which only changes settings.. 

the only time I have been offered the option of any related to a password was when I try to log on to my local host on my ipad which then gives me the option to reset and then gives me an android location for the 4 digit passcode to enter to reset my local host

Because I can’t get the local host on my shield to generate a link to a 4 digit code file manager won’t work, I need to find a way to come out of Emby on the shield so I can reset it all.

OK that is the TV client app for the Shield. Since you are also running the server on the Shield, I thought you meant the web interface. What device did you use to control the web interface when you first setup the server?

I used the shield for all of it and below are the steps I took as far as I can remember because it was a few years ago.

I initially set up just the Emby via google apps on the shield without the server but it couldn’t find my files on the shield so when looked up what the problem was it said it was because I hadn’t set up a server. I used the downloader app which sent me to a web interface, I can’t remember what put and or did but but it open the Emby server and I used the server address to access my local server in the Emby app and it found my folders.

@Sion30ukOK then it sounds like you're back to having to get to that txt file on your android device. Are you able to do that?

Worst case scenario you could always uninstall and reinstall the server, but then of course you'd be making a fresh start.

@Sion30ukdo you have a PC you can use to access the Shield?
 

Enable USB Debugging:
On your Nvidia Shield, go to Settings > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging.

Connect Your Device to a PC:
Use a USB cable to connect your Shield to the computer.

Use ADB Commands:
Open a command prompt on your PC and type:

adb shell ls /storage/emuIated/O/Android/data/com.emby.embyserver/fiIes/passwordreset.txt

PS Redo the lost admin password once you have this working to generate new instructions in the file. There is a time limit on the contents before it expires.
