But, the animation of refreshing, keeps rolling for a very long time, several hours even days. Just 0%--100%, and again and again (see picture1). In this period of time , EMBY cannot response to another media scan. TeamB 2438 Posted March 16, 2025 Posted March 16, 2025 something is creating playback sessions in emby, i dont know what, playback-reporting is just trying to log them. i dont think this is what is causing your scanning issue.

This issue keeps happying, it causes me to reboot EMBY Server several times a day , in order to add new media. Here is the full log, please check and try your best. Thanks. The last media refreshing is about 17:25, and finished about 17:50, then it keeps rolling forever, and no logs about it. In this period of time, I cannot add new media at all, because the last refreshing is not finished. Line2, No.1, as u can see , 52% to 100% and again, and again, and again for .... about 3 hours now. And the pictures have not been disordered... embyserver.txt

Here is my action list: 13:35 remove 4 plugins and reboot Server 13:4x Start scanning Cartoon libary and it finished at about 13:5x 14:04 Added some Movies and it scanned and finished properly 19:46 Added 6 TV teleplays in the libary I mentioned last post, scrapping finished at 20:14 20:30 Added one episode at Documentary Libary, nothing happened. Then I realized, it got stucked again. 20:56 Now, it keeps rolling at the libary I marked unline. The same libary in the picture I posted last night. Its purpose, is to create symlinks from another directory and notify EMBY to scan libary. It means, Symedia, has created bunch of symlinks in “/volume1/media_soft/115/EMBy/115_国产电视剧2”, and sent many scan requests. The problem is, it not notified as a directory but single file. So, 100 episodes makes 100 nofitification. Does that cause EMBY Server keeps canning over and over? For each single one of the notification, makes one full media scan? In this case, scan 100 times? Carlo 4560 Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 What you have above will keep rescanning the same folder any everything under it, over and over again. Are these folders/files on the same system? If so, just use RTM in each library. Emby will then get notified of library changes via Real Time Monitoring notifications the OS sends on changes to the file system. Can you explain how you use the symlinks with an example? There may be a far better way to do this if needed.

The libary I reported in picture, is the most case sceanrio, for other libarys also got Symlink's notification, has no effect . So, I think it can be rule out. And, after 2 days, I found that, this rescanning can be over. Eventually, after 10--20 hours, it can be stopped , and scanning another libary. But, if I put new staff in this libary again ,it will rescanning over and over again, for a very long time. @CarloYes , this libary keep rescanning over and over again, in the mean time, no logs at all. The symlink case is..... like this example: 1. a folder, name /downloads/, and it contains both TV and Movie，qbittorrent downloads staffs in it. 2. Symlink , this container , monitoring this folder, when download is finished, it will decides if it's a Movie or TV, create softlink to /media/TV or /media/Movie，rename and sort by tmdbid, then notifies EMBY to scan /media When QB downloaded a folder like this: /downloads/Heroes.2006.Season01.HEVC.DDP5.1.NTB The Symlink create softlink like /media/TV/Heroes (2006) [tmdbid=1639]/Season01/S01E01.mkv /media/TV/Heroes (2006) [tmdbid=1639]/Season01/S01E02.mkv /media/TV/Heroes (2006) [tmdbid=1639]/Season01/S01E03.mkv 3.Now, I can be seeding and watching by EMBY at the same time, fully automatic.... Luke 42077 Posted April 9, 2025 Posted April 9, 2025 So I reviewed this and there are some cases where it can queue up multiple scans for individual items. There are some improvements that have been made to this on the 4.9 beta channel, so this will be coming down to eventually hit stable.
