tedfroop21 86 Posted March 15, 2025 Posted March 15, 2025 (edited) So if I ask Emby to rescan a specific library, it will rescan ALL the libraries on the server? Is there a way to rescan a single library only that I am missing? It seems if I ask to rescan one it rescans all.... Edited March 15, 2025 by tedfroop21

If you right click on a particular library, it offers a 'Scan Library Files' function, this should only perform a scan on that specific library. If you are seeing all libraries being scanned, its best you provide some logs that show that: How to Report a Problem

It' has NEVER done that. It always goes to the first library listed under your user and scans Everything. Asked it to rescan the Pics library.....and .... **from my Adult server. Did my best to sanitize it......embyserver.txt

tedfroop21 86 Posted March 16, 2025 Author Posted March 16, 2025 Because I ran an incremental Rsync job at 10am this morning on the Movies library files. The NFO's for the Movie files missing covers and data had been rewritten after I started the scan by clicking on the three dots on the Library link for Pics and selecting Scan Library files. So I restored the larger of the two files (the backup copy) and all the Meta, cover included, came back........ Since this option is set there was no automatic scan..... Plus there was a little blue circle with a percentage number in it on the Movies Library link in Emby after I asked it to scan the Pics Library. That's a bit of a clue to whats going on......usually.
Luke 42078 Posted March 16, 2025 Posted March 16, 2025 The log is not from when you used the 3-dot menu and selected to scan the library. Can you please provide the right one? But in all likelihood what we're going to find is that some scanning was taking place for some other reason, and because it was right around the same timeframe you interpreted that as having been a result of your action. Quote Since this option is set there was no automatic scan..... That option doesn't cause automatic scans, however when a scan happens, it may cause some data to be replaced.

I always took it for what it says - it sets whether the library is scanned during automatic (not manual) scans. Manual scans will always be able to change data. 8 hours ago, Luke said: The log is not from when you used the 3-dot menu and selected to scan the library. Can you please provide the right one? It was the only log file from yesterday. I made some changes to files and folder.jpg files in the Pics library and added a folder, files, and renamed files in another library, but made no changes to the Movies library. It is possible in all that I triggered a full rescan. Odd though as the scanning progress indicator in the Dashboard never showed up to show it was scanning. 1
