LG CX 2020 doesn't show letterbox bars on non-16:9 files

In the Emby app on my 2020 LG CX 55" (OLED55CXPUA), any content that isn't perfectly 16:9 will stretch along its shorter axis. 4:3 is stretched horizontally; 21:9 is stretched vertically. The aspect ratio settings do nothing when set either cover, fill, or auto. It happens regardless of which codec or direct play vs transcoding.

This same television does add letterboxing bars when watching over DLNA, but not in the Emby App. I am on the latest 1.0.45. I don't think the server matters, but I am on the latest stable Synology version 4.8.11.

I can add black bars to my ripped files manually to pad out the ratio, but for 4K HDR, it adds a few gigabytes per hour of just black pixels, so I'd prefer not to scrub off that much space from my NAS across my whole library.

Is there a way to get logs from the LG app? All I have is the main server log, no transcoding logs were generated for that time. Playback was from about 3:59 AM to 4:01 AM.

And here's the mkvinfo for the file. This happens with every file that isn't 16:9.

To be honest, I don't really know why this would be occurring.  When it is DirectPlay as is shown in your video, the TV should be playing it exactly as it is contained in the file.  This leads me to think there is something not quite right with the files.

Can you please send me a PM with a link to one of these files that I can download from you and test?  Thanks

Okay, sent. I haven't had a file, regardless of source that letterboxes correctly on this TV.  They all work fine on Firefox and Chrome in Windows and Linux, including the Linux Emby Theater client. The codecs are all different, HEVC, h.264, h.265, even one mpeg4 from olden times. The only pattern I can discern is that app on that TV.

I did a fresh install of 1.0.45, and it seems to have fixed it. I don't have any clue what caused it because I'd done fresh install of previous versions, and it's always been like this. But a fresh install fixed it now for anyone having this problem.
