nuke11 24 Posted March 14, 2025 Posted March 14, 2025 I use MKV files with an embedded chapters file. Some movies the chapters file is not read and I get the default 5 minute for each chapter instead of the correct minutes as outlined in the chapters file. This is not specific to any version of Emby as this has been happening for a few versions. Has anyone else run into this?
Carlo 4560 Posted March 14, 2025 Posted March 14, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
nuke11 24 Posted March 15, 2025 Author Posted March 15, 2025 I don't see any issues with the file in the Emby logs, it gets processed correctly and logs show the file processed when I added it to the library. I don't see anything in the logs about processing information from the MKV file. This I guess would be in a different log not present in the web interface.
Luke 42077 Posted March 15, 2025 Posted March 15, 2025 HI there, can you please provide a specific example? What do you mean by chapters file?
nuke11 24 Posted March 15, 2025 Author Posted March 15, 2025 Here is the extracted "chapters.xml" file from the MKV file. It looks good to me when compared to other files I have. chapters.xml
Luke 42077 Posted March 15, 2025 Posted March 15, 2025 Does ffmpeg read this information? That would be the question.
nuke11 24 Posted March 15, 2025 Author Posted March 15, 2025 I'm going to say yes. I have many movies with a "chapters.xml" file in the MKV file, 4 new ones added this morning with the chapters being read correctly. This only occurs on rare occasions, 5 or 6 movies in the past 6 months in my case. I've extracted the chapters.xml file, used chapterEditor 1.45 to re-save the file, edit the chapters, etc and added it back to the MKV file, with no change with Emby not able to pick up there is a chapter file in the MKV file so then gives the default 5 minute chapters when I play the movie..
Luke 42077 Posted March 16, 2025 Posted March 16, 2025 OK we'd have to look at a specific example then. Thanks.
