Problems after installing Emby Server 4.8.11.0

I got a message on one of my devices that the server needed to be updated, so I've installed version 4.8.11.0 and still get the message.

Also, when I try to open it from my QNAP  app center, the EMBY screen flashes and goes blank.

Any suggestions?

Hi there, please attach the emby server log from when the problem occurred:

Thanks.

What address is in the browser address bar?

The address is http://192.168.1.129:8080/cgi-bin/main.html?20250108

I'm pretty inexperienced with this and don't know where to find the Emby server dashboard.

That's not an Emby page. Try:

http://ip:8096

Is this correct?

Well the web app will switch it to that, yes, but all you need to bookmark is http://ip:8096

Sorry, I'm lost. I'll keep digging to find the server log.

How are you lost?

I haven't been able to find the server logs and I don't know what to do with "http://ip:8096"

How do you find the Emby Server Dashboard?

Just put that address into the browser address bar, where ip stands for the ip address of your qnap machine. that will take you to the Emby web app where you can reach the server dashboard.

That is when the screen flashes and goes blank.

I thought you said it was when clicking the button in QNAP?

It does the same either way. It flashes "Emby" then goes blank. Is there another ip address I'm not aware of?

I also searched for C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server.

I looked at each user name and found the folder called Roaming, but there is no subfolder named "Emby-Server".

Can you try clearing browsing data and seeing if that helps?

Now it shows the initial "Emby" screen and stops there. Nothing but the word "Emby" on the screen. I tried it with the ip and clicking on the app. Same result.

Not that I can find. I even created an "Ember-Server"' folder inside /Roaming, but no files have been added.

There has to be a server log if you got that far. We know the server is running, so there is a log file. You just have to be able to get to it. It's usually located here on QNAP:

QNAP

/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata

I can't find that folder. when I look at the server through File Explorer on my PC I see a list of folders. I've looked through them all with no luck. Is there some other way to access the folder other than with File Explorer?

Posted

Is there any chance the log files are not being created? I've searched for both C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server and /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata

What am I missing?

When just the Emby screen shows with the rotating circle, go to the QNAP server login. Stop the Emby server and start it again.

Go to your server's IP address and I presume from your previous post it is http://192.168.1.129:8096

That should start the dashboard. The server log is on the QNAP device and the only way I can get to that is using a Linux program that runs on Windows like WinSCP

The log files can be found at the directory /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata/logs
