visproduction 315 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 Probably VLC can play back the film directly, but the video and / or audio codec needs to be transcoded to play back in a browser which is what Emby uses for computers and mobile. On a TV, you would use whatever the TV can support in playback. When Emby needs to transcode, the speed that it can do this depends on your server speed, if you have hardware transcoding. If the original media is very large and with a video or audio codec that needs to be converted to play in a browser, then your server will start to transcode the video and try to play the new version back. You may be at the limit of your server speed. You can try lowering the quality of the transcode in the Emby settings or select perhaps 720P instead of 1080P or 4K. Without logs and more information, the issue could be 10 different things. Does that make sense?
Luke 42077 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 @joshia Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
