GreatFlashMan 91 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 (edited) I have ran into an issue. I have an actor "David Copperfield" that is two different people. One is a comedian, and the other magician. Nothing i do with separate them. If i go to any film/tvseries and modify, it changes for both? How to i correct this? I am glad there's not too many "Tom Smiths" in my collection lol. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0178812/?ref_=fn_all_nme_2 and https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004518/?ref_=fn_all_nme_1 Edited March 11, 2025 by GreatFlashMan
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 (edited) And what are your metadata provider order as this will always be a by name issue from OMDB? As TMDB and TVDB provide a person id in their metadata. But from a UI standpoint there is no way to make this correction as you have to assign the person id to the movie/series nfo. As you see there is only by name lookup so you can never get it correct all the time or even get their role/character. GreatFlashMan 91 Posted March 11, 2025 Author Posted March 11, 2025 (edited) Bugger, that's a bit week. This is perhaps something that needs to be looked into, Actor matching to media by name alone is very poor. The only way really is adding a (1) or (2) perhaps, but that's a severe cludge. if the actor was unique id'd, then that id could be used in the meta to link correctly. GreatFlashMan 91 Posted March 11, 2025 Author Posted March 11, 2025 The people data is stored with reference, so there's already a mechanic in place to resolve this (yes, i added the I and II)
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 Well you technically have to look at the item metadata the person appears in ie the movie or show/series. So your example you have to look at Three of a Kind's nfo file assume you write metadata otherwise it will have to be done via the api reposting the entire Show/Series.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 (edited) At the same time there is an issue potentially on TVDB also. @LukePer their metadata for the Show there should be both David Copperfield's. Corrections as there is only one isFeatured. But id did not go to the correct one. "characters": [{ "id": 63559906, "peopleId": 260539, "seriesId": 201731, "type": 3, "sort": 1, "isFeatured": true, "url": "https://thetvdb.com/people/260539-lenny-henry", "peopleType": "Actor", "personName": "Lenny Henry", "personImgURL": "https://artworks.thetvdb.com/banners/v4/actor/260539/photo/67367e69e87c2.jpg" }, { "id": 63559907, "peopleId": 253462, "seriesId": 201731, "type": 3, "sort": 2, "isFeatured": true, "url": "https://thetvdb.com/people/253462-tracey-ullman", "peopleType": "Actor", "personName": "Tracey Ullman", "personImgURL": "https://artworks.thetvdb.com/banners/person/253462/primary.jpg" }, { "id": 63559909, "peopleId": 295249, "seriesId": 201731, "type": 3, "sort": 4, "isFeatured": false, "url": "https://thetvdb.com/people/295249-david-copperfield", "peopleType": "Actor", "personName": "David Copperfield", "personImgURL": "https://artworks.thetvdb.com/banners/person/295249/5fb0483b5a2b0.jpg" }, { "id": 65781409, "peopleId": 8195000, "seriesId": 201731, "type": 3, "sort": 3, "isFeatured": true, "url": "https://thetvdb.com/people/8195000-david-copperfield", "peopleType": "Actor", "personName": "David Copperfield", "personImgURL": "https://artworks.thetvdb.com/banners/person/8195000/6006ef0682b08.jpg" } ] So technically here TVDB is wrong but dev will have to comment on why only one of them appear. tvshow.nfo <actor> <name>Lenny Henry</name> <type>Actor</type> <tmdbid>53519</tmdbid> <tvdbid>260539</tvdbid> </actor> <actor> <name>Tracey Ullman</name> <type>Actor</type> <tvdbid>253462</tvdbid> <tmdbid>30364</tmdbid> </actor> <actor> <name>David Copperfield</name> <type>Actor</type> <tvdbid>295249</tvdbid> <tmdbid>1223676</tmdbid> </actor> Someone may have open a ticket to remove the wrong Copperfield from this Show on TVDB also. GreatFlashMan 91 Posted March 11, 2025 Author Posted March 11, 2025 hahaha... I did only look at IMDB this time. See, the issues people having the same name cause. Everyone should have a different name by law haha
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 (edited) Yes there are quirks with same name people and not having providerids as there is no way in Emby to assign them. Then lots of work in the people folder and each item nfo file. Then potentially removing, scanning and readding media to get them to possibly proper link to correct person. But as mentioned manually editing id in nfo files for movie/show/verifing both people folders. Removed media, performed scan on library, then scan on Metadata folder (as I edited person.nfo), then readded media content and scanned. Edited March 11, 2025 by Happy2Play 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 Updated externalids for both Copperfields on both sites. Still the issue of TVDB having both on the Show though. Submitted ticket to TVDB to remove wrong Copperfield from Three of a Kind. #TVDB-938738 1
