peterbata 4 Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 Hello all. First time post. I installed Emby server v.4.8.11.0 on a Windows 11 Pro VM that I have had running in Unraid for quite a while now. As a matter of fact this is where I have been hosting my Plex server. The install went without a hitch. Firewall Inbound rules created as recommended. I am using a Cloudflare tunnel and Nginx Proxy Manager. I am able to access approx 35 site and open source apps setup this way. No need to forward ports on my Asus router. Although I tried that and it made no difference. I have created a CF tunnel to 10.0.0.251:8096 I have created a NPM host entry as well. emby.mydomain.com I am able to access and configure emby via a web browser at emby.mydomain.com I an NOT able to access it at https://emby.mydomain.com from my iPhone. Nor can I connect to it via Emby Connect. I get the unable to reach server popup I installed the Emby app on an older Samsung Galaxy S9 and that works just fine. Your time and guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

tamara_b 0 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 @LukeThank you for chiming. I will look this over. Much appreciated.
tamara_b 0 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 @LukeBoth articles definitely make for a good read. However, it still doesn't explain why I am able to access content from my self-hosted server from my older Samsung Galaxy S9 mobile device but not my iPhone. Will keep you posted. Thanks again and have a wonderful day
visproduction 315 Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 Apple software like Safari do not allow easy access to IP addresses. They probably consider it a security risk. Try opening an incognito browser window and using http:// before the IP address. Then bookmarking the Emby start up page, once you get to it. 1
peterbata 4 Posted March 11, 2025 Author Posted March 11, 2025 Thank you @visproductionPerhaps I did not make myself clear in my original post. I have no issues accessing my Emby server when using Safari on my iPhone. The trouble that I am having is that I cannot access my Emby server when using the Emby app which I aquired and installed from the App Store 1
pwhodges 2012 Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 In your first post you mention that httpS://emby.etc fails. You haven't mentioned that you have a certificate set up and working, so I'd like to confirm that. Paul

The certificate(s) are issued by Cloudflare. So visiting https://emby.mydomain.com results in the screenshot that I have attached to this reply. Using http://emby.mydomain.com changes nothing. As I said earlier I have no issues initiating a secure connection to my Emby server from all browsers and the Emby Android app. Using Emby Connect and the Emby iPhone app is where I am stuck with the cannot reach server error message
pwhodges 2012 Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 Hmm. In that case I don't have any immediate idea beyond triple checking IP addresses and ports at every possible stage, and then looking at logs for each stage in the connection in turn to see which one is failing. I have the iOS client on several devices without any connectivity issues; but then I don't use Cloudflare or a tunnel, so everything is under my direct control - I prefer it that way. Paul

Paul Hello again @pwhodgesI may try spinning up another VM and skipping CF altogether. Thanks again for lending a hand. Much appreciated
Carlo 4561 Posted March 13, 2025 Posted March 13, 2025 Hi, what public ports are you using? What do you have set up for External Domain? What do you have setup for these fields? You can send me a PM with this info if you like. Carlo

Solution KegTapper 8 Posted March 13, 2025 Solution Posted March 13, 2025 I'm using a cloudflare tunnel. My network settings look like this
peterbata 4 Posted March 14, 2025 Author Posted March 14, 2025 @KegTapperHmm. Let me give that a go. Will get back to you with my findings. Thanks for providing me that screenshot. Much appreciated. 1
peterbata 4 Posted March 14, 2025 Author Posted March 14, 2025 @KegTapperWell it took a while but someone finally came along with the solution that was keeping up at night. Thank you so much for getting back to me with the settings that I required. Have a wonderful Friday / weekend. 1 1
