Odd Behavior With Specials

Recommended Posts

I often drop things like trailers, behind the scenes, etc. type videos in the Specials (Season 0) folder for TV shows.  Most of the time it works great.  On a couple of occasions for reasons I cannot figure out they don't all display.  Oddly if I duplicate the content with different file names they then all show up (not just the duplicated files but the original as well).  Delete the duplicated files and both they and the original (which are still in the folder) disappear from the UI.  Some screen shots will help:

Not showing in the UI:

Then I make copies of the 2 trailer files and rename them and they now show in the UI along with the original trailer files:

I then delete the copied files (Watch First and Watch Second) and not only the copies I deleted but the original files which are still there (Season 1 Trailer #1 and Season 1 Trailer #2) disappear from the UI:

Not sure if it's something to do with the words "Season 1" or "Trailer" or what but as I mentioned I have tons of shows where "Season 1 Trailer" is in the file name and it shows in the UI with no problem.  I'd love some suggestions on what I'm doing wrong.

Check the Metadata editor for each media.  If you want them to show up in Specials, try setting the season to 0.  I think sometimes this metadata is automatically set based on the release date and then it gets moved into one of the seasons.  Also look into each season to see if sometimes your specials end up there.

Hope that helps.

HI, this should be improved in the upcoming 4.9 server release. Thanks. @Happy2Play

Thanks for the tips.  In my case the content is in Season 0 folder and it's set as such in the season meta data.  They don't appear in Season 1 which is the only other folder for this particular show.

Thank you @Lukeand @Happy2Play.  I'll look forward to the 4.9 release.
