Bug Report: Subtitle Loading Issues on Web-Based Platforms

Dear Emby Team,  

I’ve encountered an issue with subtitle loading when playing transcoded videos on web-based platforms (e.g., browsers). Specifically, subtitles often take a long time to load or sometimes fail to load entirely. This problem becomes especially noticeable when the playback device has a poor network connection.  

For example, even after 30 seconds of video playback, subtitles may still not appear, and in some cases, they don’t load at all before the video ends. The worse the network conditions, the longer the delay in subtitle loading.  

I’d like to note that this issue seems to be specific to web-based playback, as I haven’t observed it in the latest version of the Emby client.

@LukeThank you for your response. After further testing, I’ve confirmed that the subtitle loading delay occurs for both embedded subtitles (within the video file) and external subtitle files.

To better demonstrate the issue, I’ve attached the server logs and a screen recording. During the recording, I limited the browser’s (via) network speed to 4 Mbps and played a 720p - 1 Mbps video to amplify the problem and make it more easily observable.

Hi, have you updated to Emby Server 4.8.11? Has that helped?

@LukeYes, I have updated my emby service to 4.8.11.0, but the problem still exists after testing. I will be happy to continue to help solve this problem if necessary.
