firefox1970 12 Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 (edited) Hello, On my Android TV, I used to be able to adjust the subtitle timing. Now, the option is missing (see attached picture). How can I restore it? Additionally, the media path no longer appears in the Media Info. Regards, Firefox Edited March 2, 2025 by firefox1970
ebr 16169 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Hi. Adjusting subtitle timing only works with external subs. Is that an internal one?
firefox1970 12 Posted March 3, 2025 Author Posted March 3, 2025 (edited) Hello, its an external (SRT File) Sub download via Emby. Edited March 3, 2025 by firefox1970
ebr 16169 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 How is the item playing? It is also not possible if it is transcoding or burning them in. Also, can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
firefox1970 12 Posted March 3, 2025 Author Posted March 3, 2025 Hello, The item is playing directly without transcoding or burning in the subtitles. I have installed and checked the Emby for Android app. I can now adjust the subtitle timing, but I can't change the position. The subtitles appear almost in the middle of the TV screen. Is there a way to move them lower? Thanks!
Luke 42077 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Can you please show an example of what they look like? Thanks.
firefox1970 12 Posted March 8, 2025 Author Posted March 8, 2025 Hello, I can now adjust the subtitle timing again. However, the media path still does not appear in the Media Info. Did something change on your end that may have fixed this? Thanks!

Luke 42077 Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 The path should be there. Can you please show a screenshot example ?Thanks.
firefox1970 12 Posted March 16, 2025 Author Posted March 16, 2025 Hello, I've attached a screenshot for your reference. As you can see, the media path is still missing. Additionally, this movie is not playing with the TV app, but it works fine with the Android app. Please let me know if you have any further suggestions. Thanks!

firefox1970 12 Posted March 17, 2025 Author Posted March 17, 2025 Hello, I've already tried the Emby for Android app on the same device, and the movie plays fine there. Additionally, the media path is displayed correctly in that app. The issue only occurs with the Emby for Android TV app. Please let me know if you have any further suggestions. Thanks!
Luke 42077 Posted March 17, 2025 Posted March 17, 2025 Quote I've already tried the Emby for Android app on the same device, and the movie plays fine there. Hi, are you happy continuing to use this?
firefox1970 12 Posted March 18, 2025 Author Posted March 18, 2025 Hello, I'm fine using the Emby for Android app for now, but I'd prefer to have the Emby for Android TV app working properly if possible. I prefer the TV app because it offers better control with the remote. Also, as a feature request, it would be great if I could assign a user the right to view the media path. Thanks!
Luke 42077 Posted March 18, 2025 Posted March 18, 2025 Hi, what makes you think it's easier with a remote?
firefox1970 12 Posted March 19, 2025 Author Posted March 19, 2025 Hello, I find the Emby for Android TV app easier to use with a remote because the interface is optimized for TV navigation. The layout feels more intuitive, and actions like browsing, selecting media, and adjusting settings are quicker and more convenient with the remote compared to using a touchscreen interface or a mouse. Thanks!

firefox1970 12 Posted March 19, 2025 Author Posted March 19, 2025 Hello, I feel that the Emby for Android TV app's layout is more intuitive because it seems better adapted to remote control navigation. For example, menus and options are easier to access with fewer clicks, and the overall design feels more streamlined for TV use. In contrast, the Emby for Android app feels like it requires more steps to perform certain actions. That's just my experience — maybe it's a matter of personal preference. Thanks!

Hi, how exactly do you feel that the menus are easier?
firefox1970 12 Posted March 20, 2025 Author Posted March 20, 2025 Hello, In the Emby for Android TV app, I find the menus easier because they feel more structured for remote navigation. For example, the layout allows me to quickly scroll through categories, and key options are accessible with fewer button presses. The focus highlighting also makes it clearer which item is selected. In the Emby for Android app, I feel like I sometimes need to do more scrolling or navigating through additional submenus to reach the same settings or options. Of course, this is only my personal feeling, because I’m used to the TV app. Thanks!
Luke 42077 Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 Quote For example, the layout allows me to quickly scroll through categories, and key options are accessible with fewer button presses. Hi, what categories? What key options? Quote The focus highlighting also makes it clearer which item is selected. Are you saying the white focus border isn't clear enough?
firefox1970 12 Posted March 20, 2025 Author Posted March 20, 2025 Hello, By categories, I mean sections like Movies, TV Shows, and Playlists — navigating between them feels quicker and more fluid in the TV app. Regarding key options, I find that controls like subtitle settings, audio tracks, and playback options are easier to access with fewer steps. As for the white focus border, I wouldn’t say it's unclear. However, I personally feel that the overall navigation in the TV app is smoother and more intuitive, especially with the faster scrolling and better responsiveness. I guess it’s also a matter of what I'm used to — since I've been using the TV app longer, it just feels more natural to me.
Luke 42077 Posted March 20, 2025 Posted March 20, 2025 So this is just about performance and not layout? Ok fair enough. Why do you think it takes more clicks to get to get to audio and subtitles? It actually takes less. You just press up and you’re there.
firefox1970 12 Posted March 21, 2025 Author Posted March 21, 2025 Hello, You're right — it seems like my impression is more about performance than the actual layout. Regarding audio and subtitles, I see what you mean about pressing up to access them. Perhaps it's just a habit from using the TV app more often, or maybe the quicker response time makes it feel like fewer steps. Either way, thanks for clarifying! I appreciate your time and help. 1
