davidawarner 12 Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 Support, Been trying to get over this hurdle with the error message "System.IO.IOException: System.IO.IOException: Authentication Failed." where I am trying to create a manual backup of EMBY complete setting/db backup but keep running into this issue. Here are my stats Synology NAS-DS720 DSM (Current) Emby Server Version 4.8.10.0 My goal is to eventually automate EMBY to store the backups to my NAS for restoration. I believe the issue lives where the emby system internal user does not have full access to the share drive \\10.190.39.5\SynologyBackup\Packages\Emby My goal is to have each Folder backup configuration for the apps installed isolated to it's folder. Note: I did notice when trying to navigate where to store the Emby backup data that I could not drill into the folder share. So I mapped it out \\10.190.39.5\SynologyBackup\Packages\Emby - so maybe 10.190.39.5 is issue where can't reach across the network? Thoughts, suggestions, ideas Please advise Dave Emby Error Log.txt
Luke 42077 Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 Hi, you’ll need to map the network stare to a local path because the backup plugin currently does not provide a way to enter the required credentials to access the network share.
davidawarner 12 Posted February 27, 2025 Author Posted February 27, 2025 Thank You Luke.. that did the trick! I am not sure why but this time I could navigate to the path w/o problems. Currently, I am running a integrity check on a backup so might had some pull in it. /volume1/SynologyBackup/Packages/Emby now, with that being said, should I still give r/w access to emby to the shared folder? I plan on just using this only for backup and not utilizing this for media. letting hyper backup do the rest. please advise and again Thank You! tvos 2

Worked like a charm - Thank You! Question? - I noticed that the backup size is 7GB and that is fine. I host a NAS server which is 40TBs and perform a 3-2-1 backup strategy. So that I fully understand, worse case scenario the NAS dies and I purchase a new NAS, drives, etc. Using the same network layout post restoration. Performing the restore everything? Can you kindly walk me through that process. Please advise Dave
Solution Luke 42077 Posted February 28, 2025 Solution Posted February 28, 2025 Hi, on the new server you point the backup process to the same folder, then click the restore button and everything will be restored: Configuration Backup
