Updating Emby on Synology

Recommended Posts

Preface this by saying I'm an idiot. I set up my Emby app simply by using the package center. But now its saying I need to update it. I don't know how to do that.

Can this be why Emby stopped working? Anytime I try to play a movie it doesn't work and it says "contact server admin" and everytime I play a tv series, it plays but glitches like crazy (basically it plays 3 secons, then skips 3 seconds).

What server and dsm version do you have?

Does this help?

Emby Server for Synology NAS - Emby Note this version is DSM 7.2+ specific so you may need to go to the other version links.

Will need a MOD to delete that image as you don't want your WAN shown.

But doesn't this page cover everything?  Pretty sure you are need the x64 but you can verify by looking at the top section of Emby server log.

I'm sorry if I sound stupid. I don't even know which one of these files to download. I have no idea what ARMv7 or the other ones mean. I'll understand if you can't help.

actually just guessing as I don't see the J mode but would be armv8 but suggest looking at your Emby server log.

Thanks. I deleted the photo with the IP. I'll try the 64 bit one.

As H2P mentioned if you already had Emby server installed once then it's very easy to see which file you installed previously by looking at the very top of the server log.

2025-02-26 05:12:31.068 Info Main: Emby Server 4.9.0.38
	Command line: /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/system/EmbyServer.dll -programdata /var/packages/EmbyServer/var -ffdetect /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffdetect -ffmpeg /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffmpeg -ffprobe /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffprobe -nolocalportconfig -ignore_vaapi_enabled_flag -pidfile /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/EmbyServer.pid -defaultdirectory /volume1/Public -updatepackage emby-server-synology72_{version}_x86_64.spk

On line 4 of my log, you can see I'm running Emby Server 4.9.0.38 and at the very end of line 5 you can I installed the Synology72 x86_64 file.

So, I downloaded file emby-server-synology72_4.9.0.38_x86_64.spk

Anyhow, it looks like he found the right one for you.  However, you can't install the wrong one so you can keep trying until you get the right one too :)
