LoLoEmby 1 Posted February 24, 2025 Posted February 24, 2025 Hey folks! I have an annoying experience that I was not able to turn off. When I watch movies with Descriptive / Commentary audio on the web or some Samsung TVs with the latest Emby app the audio of Descriptive taking over the original sound file. The only what I found out was to remux it with MKVtoolNix and remove that audio file. Things that I tried to change: 1. Transcoding - Direct play / On 2. Change default Trak to English or my language 3. Check on and off the: "Play default audio track regardless of language" 4. Remember audio track selections - On and Off 5. Enable Cinema Intros - On and Off This is very annoying issue and I tried to search for solution but without luck. Any suggestion please? Thanks

Luke 42078 Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
LoLoEmby 1 Posted February 25, 2025 Author Posted February 25, 2025 Hello Luke, thanks for the fast respond. I rebooted the server and clear the logs to shrink the log size, then play movie with this audio Descriptive. See the attach file. Thanks! embyserver.txt
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 What does Emby show for media info for this example and or the ffmpeg log? You will want to anonymize your logs also by enabling and downloading via the ui. https://emby.media/support/articles/Log-Files.html Might need to ask a MOD to remove that server log. 1

visproduction 315 Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 I think audio DTS-HD is not recognized and the second audio AC3 is used. If you converted the first DTS audio to AAC surround, for example, it would probably play fine as the default audio. See: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/what-is-difference-between-dts-hd-and-dts-ma.814541/

We need to find a setting to disable the other AC3 Commentary audio. Thank you both!
Luke 42078 Posted February 26, 2025 Posted February 26, 2025 The only thing I can think of is that you may have selected the track at some point and forgotten about that, and that track selection is being remembered. If you disable the user option to remember selected tracks, how does that compare?
LoLoEmby 1 Posted February 26, 2025 Author Posted February 26, 2025 It somehow stays the same More than that, when I trying to switch to the other source audio, no change. still playing the same audio track. I tried different movie with English and Hebrew DUB, when I start the movie, it always plays the Hebrew no matther if I choose English in the menu or change in the player itself.

This could be playing a role in your issue:
LoLoEmby 1 Posted February 27, 2025 Author Posted February 27, 2025 Thanks for the quick reply, man. I always using this selection when I know the user have low end TV/Streamer Without changing the container. Do you think it can be the issue? Should I enable it for everyone?
Luke 42078 Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 It could be the problem yes. I would start by reenabling it.
LoLoEmby 1 Posted February 27, 2025 Author Posted February 27, 2025 You are amazing! Many thanks Luke! Not its actually working even when changing during playback. I would like if you can explain a little about this playback container settings please...

Sometimes those methods are needed in order to select the correct track.
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 I have several files (mostly MKV) that have multiple imbedded audio tracks. (one I have looked at has 24 audio tracks) Since I only want either English or German or Japanese the extra tracks are just wasted space for me. I was wondering what utility people find best to completely remove some audio tracks without changing any of the rest. If a utility does that it also could remove the "descriptive audio track" from the file. I know that removing an audio track or three will not save much space but, sometimes every little bit helps. BTW: I am running under Windows 10 and neither server is able to upgrade to Windows 11

pwhodges 2012 Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 You can set up MKVToolNix gui to only enable copying of the languages you specify in the settings - you can then simply load the file and click the mux button to remove the unwanted languages (same with subtitles). You'd need to glance over the remaining audio streams to find any commentaries and disable copying them manually. Paul
