paolozXXII 3 Posted February 23, 2025 Posted February 23, 2025 Hi I was wondering if someone has experiencing lags (movie stops and frame skippings) of the app on a Samsung TVs. I did not see the same behaviour on Sony TV, or Fire TV sticks. Also, the Samsung TV is on the same ISP network and geographically closer than others... Thanks Paolo

paolozXXII 3 Posted February 23, 2025 Author Posted February 23, 2025 Hello ebr, the ISP (Internet Service Provider) is the same, obviously different local network but two km apart. Tried as far as 250km with no lag, different ISPs, but with a Amazon TV fire stick. P.S. Worth mentioning that if he uses a PC in the same house has no lags, and my bandwidth is a 1Gbit fiber (940MB upload) way more than the NAS... So, back to question: what's the overall experience with Samsungs? Paolo
Luke 42077 Posted February 23, 2025 Posted February 23, 2025 Hi, I think Emby for Samsung and Emby for Android are both great options.
paolozXXII 3 Posted February 24, 2025 Author Posted February 24, 2025 So there should be no problem. I noticed in the activity pane that only this samsung client (intended as app, not someone paying :D) have sometimes the red bar flickering below the green bar... that's the transcoding, right? Who does this job? emby server or the client? Thanks

paolozXXII 3 Posted February 24, 2025 Author Posted February 24, 2025 Ok, so the Synology transcoding engine is not coping? I have mostly x265 encoded content, but it happens with x264 too. The samsung might show flawlessly for an hour or so, then when it begins it stutters every few seconds... Last, but not least.. when the transcoding happens? When discrepancies between the source format and the client's engine capabilities arises? Thanks, and sorry to bother... Paolo
paolozXXII 3 Posted March 2, 2025 Author Posted March 2, 2025 Hi. just noticed on the "Devices" section that this Samsung TV is the only device that use "Emby for Samsung 1.9.0" app. All the (lag-less, working) devices do not: Android or android TV apps... Paolo

Sounds like your Samsung TV is causing a transcode when the other TV devices are not. But without server logs, it's just a guess. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
paolozXXII 3 Posted March 4, 2025 Author Posted March 4, 2025 Hi Luke, I need to ask the friend to retry. Also, the stop might happen in few minutes, or many (usually within an hour it happens)... log file might be big... Will let you know... Paolo

Solution paolozXXII 3 Posted November 7, 2025 Author Solution Posted November 7, 2025 Finally I solved, there's nothing wrong with the samsung and/or its app. I brought a Pi4 configured with Kodi and Emby plugin to the same place my friend's tv was. Dreadful performance but home it was really sparkling. Check the wi-fi network speed and was even worse (scarse 7mbit). So I connected his TV via ethernet cable and all was working as supposed to. Thanks everybody. Paolo 1
