ecrispy 38 Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 There were many threads about how the AndroidTv/Fire app was deprecated, and the Android/mobile app was the way forward since it was the only one being developed. For bugs such as as audio codec issues, we were told to use the mobile app by side loading. Is this still the case? I also remember posts about unifying the 2 apps. Which app should I install on a FireStick4K/4KMax, and where do I find it? And will it unlock on my devide (I have purchased device unlock on both Google and Amazon app stores, but the app on both is old).

Borth appss are available in the App store (search for "Emb"). You can also run both of them in parallel. 27 minutes ago, ecrispy said: I have purchased device unlock on both Google and Amazon app stores App unlock is not available any more for AndroidTV app (it was never available for Standard Android app on TV devices), but you get 5 free playback devices now and old unlocks are still honored.
ecrispy 38 Posted February 21, 2025 Author Posted February 21, 2025 the Android mobile app which you recommend is not going to be in the Amazon app store is it? this is the Android app - https://www.amazon.com/Emby-Mobile/dp/B00GVH9O0I it looks very old, from 2013. where is the latest one?
ecrispy 38 Posted February 21, 2025 Author Posted February 21, 2025 and according to this topic - the latest mobile app version is 2.1.26. so where do I find this to install on my device, or are you telling all your users to sideload? what happened to the unification of the 2 apps?
Solution Luke 42077 Posted February 21, 2025 Solution Posted February 21, 2025 Hi, the new app to use going forward is this: https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html
ebr 16169 Posted February 21, 2025 Posted February 21, 2025 Hi. The standard app is in the Amazon store. Look for the one called just "Emby" and NOT "Emby for Fire TV". 15 minutes ago, ecrispy said: the latest mobile app version is 2.1.26 The topic you linked to is the beta for the TV app.
ecrispy 38 Posted February 21, 2025 Author Posted February 21, 2025 Well, I checked the app version on my FireStick and its already 3.46. I don't know how as I don't remember installing it officially from app store, but maybe I did and it was updated? I'm still seeing quite a few issues such as audio being lost on certain files with EAC3 (it only plays the music), the UX will often show the last background poster instead of current one etc. I realize these should probably be their own topic but would like a quick opinion on whether I should update to the latest beta version, and if so is there an official procedure for it - besides uninstalling current app and sideloading new apk?
Luke 42077 Posted February 22, 2025 Posted February 22, 2025 Hi, that’s a pretty recent version. We have identified an audio issue and that fix will be in a build coming soon. It wasn’t with eac3 but it may still end up resolving it.
