File permissions

This is a topic that has always confused me.

I have managed to get the file all my media is in to have permissions by Emby. It can even see my media but each media file does not have Emby permissions. Short of going file by file how do I change them?

Hi, what do you mean exactly by does not have Emby permissions? What problem are you having?

In Emby I can add a library and have done so with where my media is stored.  It even populates the media in Emby.  When I play it through Emby I get the following error.

Playback Error

No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details.

If I go to the video through my file manager it shows the media is under my username permission. If I go to the larger folder the media is stored in it gives emby - Emby Server as having permissions.

I have searched the above error through this forum and DuckDuckGo. Nothing seems to be relevant to me. Now I am an idiot and maybe over looking something but the permission thing is the only thing that seems suspect.

I figured it out. Unknown why but somewhere a file permission got changed. Once Emby  got permission it seems to be working. Will update if it changes or only certain videos work.
