VasEmby 0 Posted February 18, 2025 Posted February 18, 2025 Hi, I have a DS124 which I am using as media server for my movies and series. Recently, I have noticed that I have a variable lag (out of sync) while playing subtitles. Using the movie and the subtitle locally on a pc, there is no lag, so it is not the subtitle file. When streaming from emby server running on Synology, I have this lag, which starts for example from 0.5 sec offset and as the movie goes on it increases slowly. The video and audio are in perfect sync. Only the subs are out of sync. Any ideas? The video file is about 2GB, so it is not that big. Synology ver DSM 7.2 Emby server ver: 4.8.8.0

Wild guess would be item might be transcoding and your server machine can't burn-in subs (CPU-demanding process) fast enough - or it can't extract them fast enough. But that's just guesswork, for specifics: how to report a media playback issue
VasEmby 0 Posted February 20, 2025 Author Posted February 20, 2025 Thank you for your reply. I am not sure how to report properly this issue, since I don't have an error or something to report. Regarding what you said about the transcoding, can you explain to me: the transcoding happens on synology or on my media player (xiaomi tv box)? Should I disable it and try again?

Provide some specifics: which client app you're using; does it happen on all items or only certain ones; which item was played; were embedded or external subtitles used; attach server log and ffmpeg log(s) if created for that session. 1
