I configured a music collection, but the albothers.thumb.jpg.8c1637c34fec807c6f7a3e961b065958.jpgdouble.thumb.jpg.3105cfce77ebba3eb773180f61a06d95.jpgdisk1.thumb.jpg.c72f64efb901a780d530d62c02cd4c13.jpgum shows duplicates, and Disc 1 displays all the tracks, while the other discs display correctly. Is this a bug?

Hi, it's probably not a bug with Emby. It's more likely that you have incorrect or missing embedded metadata in your music files that is causing the problem. Try checking your tags for Album Artist. If they are wrong, then you will have problems. There is more information here:

Tagging Your Tracks

All music tracks should be tagged with whatever information you want displayed in Emby. Emby should support all common tags written by Musicbrainz Picard. Other common software used to alter/write tags is Mp3tag and Tagscanner.

Please make sure to write all tag version or to remove old tags. All tags should be written using unicode format.

Tagging your albums and tracks should be straightforward with the possible exception of various artist or compilation albums.

For these types of compilation albums if you want all tracks to show up as a single entity you want to make sure both the "album" and "album artist" fields are the same for all tracks. Otherwise the album will be split up for the various artists listed.

This document seems to not describe how to name multiple discs in a single album.

For the Kamen Rider 50th Anniversary collection you are having the problem with, you should number your discs: 1,2,3,4,5...........18.

Your problem may not be a disc numbering problem. It may be an Album Artist problem as I mentioned before.

You may need to correct your embedded metadata to be: (English example, sorry I don't understand Japanese?)

Disc 1

  • Album: Kamen Rider 50th Anniversary Box Set
  • Album Artist: Various Artists
  • Disc Number: 1

Disc 2

  • Album: Kamen Rider 50th Anniversary Box Set
  • Album Artist: Various Artists
  • Disc Number: 2

Disc 3

  • Album: Kamen Rider 50th Anniversary Box Set
  • Album Artist: Various Artists
  • Disc Number: 3

Do you use Picard or Mp3tag or a similar tagging program to check your music files before importing into Emby?

What does your embedded metadata show (with a music tagging program) for these tags/fields?

Also, check for both "Album Artist" and "AlbumArtist" tags that could be causing problems?

I did it that way, but only Disc 1 is not displaying as expected; the other discs are fine. This isn't just an issue with a single album, the same problem occurs with others as well. My Emby version is 4.8 on Synology NAS.

OK good to see you are using Mp3tag! That's helpful.

If you haven't tried this already - View>Extended Tags (or Alt+T) to see all tags. Don't just rely on the default LHS tag panel.

Sometime there are different "hidden" versions of "Album Artist" or "AlbumArtist" that cause problems if they are different from each other.

It seems to be normal, it's really strange.

Yes, that seems normal with no hidden "Album Artist"

Is it normal for this collection (because I don't know it) to have "Various Artists" for an individual track as well?

Just thinking... What is the folder structure of your music and what have you selected in Emby?

Also, do you have a smaller example problem Album set - perhaps I can find it, download and check later on...

(I need to go offline now, but will check tomorrow to see if it is solved or not.)

Could it be a problem with Emby configuration, or is it an issue with the folder directory?

After trying many times, I deleted all the music media libraries, cleared the Emby cache, and rebuilt the music media library. It returned to normal, so it seems to be an Emby metadata cache bug. Thanks again for your help!
