MyTV (Beta) - PseudoTV alternative

Quick question, since this is still in "alpha" or perhaps "beta" phase, if I build a channel in one version and your code is updated and I update, do I need to rebuild the channel to get the updated version aligned with my channel (ie either work or have it access whatever update was made)?  Currently I have 5 channels built with Virtual TV (80s, RomCom, Romance, Period/Time Pieces, and SciFi).  I also have a Ted Lasso channel (we call it our palette cleanser after watching disturbing movies....or just the news).  I just don't want to have to keep rebuilding it every few days, and if so, will just create one "test" channel with myTV until we are further along in it's maturation.

By the way, I have a tool for building the images for channel logos, and the other images in Emby.  I need to clean it up, but I may post it soon.

@JatorIt is always possible that changes can require you to rebuild your channels. I will try to keep this to a minimum.  The problem is that I have to store the EPG that you create so it's available the next time that you want to edit or add to your channels. The easiest way to do this is to save the HTML.  This technique has a side effect.  If I change the base HTML, my changes will be overwritten when you restore your EPG.  I other words, you won't see any of my changes. The good news is that the base HTML is mature, and I don't have any current plans to change it

@TZTZoroI hope that you have noticed that your CSS from pseudoTV still lives on in myTV.  I learned from your code how to exploit CSS to make the JS simpler. I am in your debt.

@VicMooreI can work with you on fixing this crash on the Roku. Going to install the plugin and set this up. Then try to see if I can get some crashes on the Roku client and see where this occurs. The Roku app should never crash. Even with bad data it should error rather than crash. Will post back once I have this setup and can test.

If anyone is interested, attached below is a plugin for viewing and editing the metadata and images of Emby library content. You can edit a single item or many items at once. I use this tool to help build TV Guides for myTV. If anyone wants the source code, I will post it.

Hey @VicMoore, I've been testing different iterations of dedicated channels.  Is there a way to have a channel setup to only show movies with the category "comedy" or even perhaps 2 different categories "romance" and "comedy"?  I played with different versions of the query string but couldn't get it to pull anything.

@Jatorwe must think alike. I am working on that right now. Once I finish the base code, I will get up with you to discuss the finale details. Right now, I analyze your Media Libraries and graph out the distribution of Genres. I then allow you to quickly build channels from that data. I even want to include an option that will build the entire EPG automatically. Since you can have as many EPGs as you like this should not be too difficult but will take some time.

But you mean the last message in this thread? I haven't asked for help yet because I cannot experience the crash. Has the Roku app crashed on you when using the MyTV Plugin? I will work with you on these crashes on the Roku to solve them. If you know of some way to cause them with media let me know. Maybe access to your server so we can login and experience the issue first hand? If that were possible we can solve the problem since we see all the logs. The crash is something that should not be happening in the app. The error should be ignored by the app or if this is something fatal to playback it should throw up a dialog/message to let the user know this item is presently unplayable for some reason. Since it isn't doing either of those and just rudely exiting the app in a crash this makes it a bug with a very high priority. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Attached is the latest code. I have corrected many bugs and have added new functionality.  I have tested it for several days and have built very large EPGs.  @Jatorhas also been testing the code. I also added a quick way to build channels.  Soon I will add a feature for creating a starter set of channels by analyzing your Emby libraries and from that analysis assembling the channels automatically.

In the TV platform C# code, I simplified interfacing with the various Emby clients because I didn't understand much about these clients.  My knowledge has improved over the last year, so I plan now to make the TV Platform perform better and work with more devices. My attention is turning to this task.

I added a feature that will create a set of starter channels from your Emby Database under two conditions. You can do this when you add a new TV Source or when you select "TV Guide 1" and have no channels defined. In both cases a purple "Starter Channels" button appears. Click this button and the starter channels will appear.  I have only tested this on my Emby DB.

Let me know if it works on your system.

hi @VicMooreI just tried out the latest version, and it is very intuitive to use, really great work. 

I am still having the same issue where the guide order is not working as I would have expected. I have a channel setup for Stargate where I want to play episodes from each of the 3 Stargate shows in premiere date order. However, when I set the Media Play Order for the 3 shows to 'Premiere date', the guide still plays each show in sequential order (i.e. Stargate SG1 S1E01, then Stargate Atlantis S01E01, then SGU S01E01, then Stargate S1E02, Stargate Atlantis S01E02, etc.).
