How to efficiently store artwork in a media folder

I have a number of media folder names that do not have identifiers such as tmdbid or tmdbid. I would like to add the identifiers, but I believe that rescanning resets the metadata, artwork, etc. This is very troubling.

So I want to save the nfo files and artwork in a media folder. nfo will lock or unlock the metadata and I believe it will output all the way through for TV shows. We only need to repeat this for a number of TV shows and movies.

The problem is the artwork. Is there any way to save all the artwork to the media folder as simply as possible?

It doesn't, as long artwork is present within media folders and named appropriately. Local metadata always take precedence upon import if present.

If your setup is db only, I don't know of any way currently of saving/exporting current/custom artwork to media folders.

Currently, only DB is setup.
So we would like to save the artwork in a media folder.
