bonemouth 1 Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 Hi, I installed Emby for the first time a couple days ago, and like Jellyfin, many (the same) photos aren't appearing in the library. This includes several folders, and I've unchecked read only from all these folders. Some are .jpg and some are .png files. Some appear properly, and file sizes vary 0.4 to 11 MB. I'm using the "Home videos & photos" library, and "Enable photos" and "Enable real time monitoring" are checked. I'm using Windows 11 and have no problems with videos and their thumbnails appearing properly in Emby. I've attached the top two files in my logs. Do you want more? Thanks! hardware_detection-63875038927.txt embyserver.txt

Luke 42078 Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 Hi there, can you please provide a specific example? How are your files named and organized?
bonemouth 1 Posted February 14, 2025 Author Posted February 14, 2025 Sure, here's one with the same filename as in one of the folders for which nothing appears. The folder is E:\pictures\comics.

This one is named "fanart - Blackfire (by Redpostit) 01.jpg," and they're in simple directories like the one this picture is in, "E:\pictures\comics"
Luke 42078 Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 Can you please show the complete contents of the folder? thanks.
Luke 42078 Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 Ok. What folder did you add to emby library setup?
bonemouth 1 Posted February 15, 2025 Author Posted February 15, 2025 E:\pictures This comics folder is a direct subfolder of that.
Luke 42078 Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 @bonemouthhow many Emby libraries have you created, and what folder paths are added to each one?
bonemouth 1 Posted March 1, 2025 Author Posted March 1, 2025 @LukeJust 3. I have: E:\pictures E:\videos\#TV E:\videos\#movies
Carlo 4561 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 If you scan the picture library, do any of the files in the comics directory show up? Have you checked permissions of this directory and files to make sure Emby Server can access them? Carlo

Carlo Manual scans don't change anything for these various files that don't get picked up (and I don't need to do random scans for the files that do), and I've removed read only from theme and don't see where they're blocked. Should I check for anything else?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 @Lukeis this by design as the files are "Fanart-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" named so they get absorbed as backdrops?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 @LukeTesting this they don't appear in 4.8.10.0 but do appear in 4.9.0.41. So I don't know what is changing here. 1
Luke 42078 Posted March 4, 2025 Posted March 4, 2025 There are definitely fixes related to this in the 4.9 beta channel. 1
