Plugin: Export VODS from .m3u - split m3u livetv, tvshows, movies (Going BETA!!)

Something that I've noticed with the successful movies and tv shows the m3u URL created look like this:

TV Shows: http://url:80/series/username/password/1032455.mkv <--the link will try to download the movie in firefox

Movies: http://url:80/movie/username/password/1266241.mkv <-- the link will try to open a tv episode in firefox

Any way of somehow using the url format to capture all the movies and shows?

Nevermind I manually did it in texteditor and now have a m3u for movies and series. Trying to run them the plugin now. I left the keywords section blank and hope the plugin knows where to place the movies.

So I am working away from home all week for at least the next 5 weeks, only home at weekends. So as I have managed to get it to work on my QNAP with the correct configuration of the ignore words, I thought I would give it a go on the laptop again (with the same configuration as my QNAP). 14 minutes for start to finish...fast enough for me

Mine still seems to be running since this morning at 3am EST. It’s working though. Safe travels.

I'm running the macos/m4 mini and just want to share my log for reference. I *think* it's done, I can't really quantify it without doing a terminal script to read the VOD folder and comparing it to Smarter IPTV live.

That's one of the steps I need to do. Compare the original m3u and what has been output, to see if I am missing anything

I am currently rewriting the "brain" of all this, and thus re-writing the subsidiary parts too -  Its taking me a bit longer.

There are a few issues in the original that I have noted.
1.  If you log the output, when the log gets large, there can be a cross threaded file lock which "can" cause the process to just exit/miss files etc.  *This was hard to detect*
2.  Some ignore words didn't seem to be being captured.

The core couldn't be multithreaded in its original form.

Status:
I have re-written the core, that is now multithreaded as well as everything else, so it processes the m3u file across all cores simultaneously
(i.e. on my pc reads and interprets 16 m3u entries simultaneously, categorises them etc), as well a all the I/O operations and logging.
I have re-written the logger altogether.  Its complicated to explain, but it works.
I have re-written the I/O file writer.  So that now queues and writes across all cores simultaneously, also prevents thread locks, overloads, queue buffer overflow etc..
I have re-written the ignore handler, that is still being tested but appears to be corrected.

There is still more to do as all of this is new and replacing the older code.

Full Verbose Logging mode is only taking 19 mins now, compared to most of the day before!

It might take me a few more days but I should be able to post a full working version soon.

There is an option by grouping, maybe you can ask for a user defined placement in the options. So you can put keywords, etc. in there and it will sort them

The next version, when it is released incorporates this, it was asked for further back in this thread and I have added it into the new code already.

It is already tested and working.  It will also recognise continuous stream URLs as live tv when it's ready.

It's getting close, I still have a few parts to finish, I don't have a huge amount left to do.

Maybe you ran into one of the quirks mentioned above when it just exits for no reason

This no longer happens on the version I am testing right now.  
It looks pretty similar, but it almost all new.
There are a few more options, such as what to output, what to log etc.
I am not far off posting it, I have a few more things to finish off, so it might be ready by this weekend. (I hope  )
So far it seems to be a LOT more accurate, using all the ignore words, outputting and cleaning up correctly (I think anyway)

I still have to add in code to use the inclusion words, but there isn't a lot more to do.  Its almost detecting everything properly now without the inclusion words.

So I went to see if the movies on the server matched what was on the m3u and I found a lot of garbage I don't want. Basically anything not EN or UK... 126745 movies to sort through. Here is how did some quick array pivot table to see what it looked like. The hardest one I have is how to put in an arabic letter into the ignore list. Once I get a concise list of what I DO WANT I want to figure out how to consolidate the folders or just them all into genres. I wouldn't want to accidentally have a friend over and the For Adults pops up while we're scrolling lmao

It also sorts much better and accurately.

I am very close to posting it.

I am hoping it'll be done by Sunday evening.

So from your list it looks like the saved m3u is not respectful of utf or ansi, I will check that, thanks.

No, it has fields for tmdb, omdb and tvdb API keys, it pulls into from them.  You can get your own API key on these sites for personal use.

Once I finish the next bit I have to do I might post it, so you guys can test it out.  I wanted to test it a bit more first, but i don't mind posting it.

I tested it creating the vod folders and cleaning up

I tested the tmdb IDs being pulled from tmdb and added to the movie names.

I haven't tested the genres yet, it pulls them, but I haven't tested if the genre folder creates yet.  The code is there to do it, but it hasn't been checked.

I tested the split m3u creation.

I tested many different options work as the should, on/off for selecting outputs 

I have converted (well rewritten actually) most of the code to use all cpu cores instead of single threaded,  speed has vastly increased.

Because it is basically rewritten, almost completely, it's not even the same plugin anymore, it looks very similar and does the same thing but a lot better I think.

It shouldn't be long now, I'm have a day off from work Sunday so I am hoping to finish it then if I don't have time Saturday.

I'll be happy to be your QA analyst if you need to organize tickets and nice to haves out on Git. I can run a windows VM and trash it alongside my dev mac to test things out. I'm trying to get better about using Docker so bare with me. If I get bored I might even try running ubuntu or something. I'm in US EST but retired and like to tinker at all hours.

I started importing the data from the m3u in python to create a report comparing what movies converted successfully, the ones that didn't and the ones that are going to TV Shows folder. I got bored and switched to Excel but now I'm creating a SAS dataset I can put into a database. I want to compare the original m3u to the output and create a foreign key to tie the datasets together so I can slice and dice and see where there are issues. 

Like for example below. I only ran the curated movie m3u and not the TV one and deleted any possible tv shows or live tv. It still put movies under TV:

I need to test your latest version and report back how long it takes me. I'm still working on filtering what I want and how to ignore what I don't.

Some streams that are filetype mp4 are not playing on emby or other players so it might be a host issue. Haven't had any issues with mkv.

Sorry to bombard you so much but something that occurred to me, do people use the Live TV feature? I haven't tried it out yet so what would be the upside to using it instead of the Live TV section already on the dashboard. I'll give it a go with some coffee later.

Thanks again @mickle026!!! I'll be the first to toast one for you on St Paddys. Don't feel rushed, this is by far miles ahead than when I first downloaded it. I can make it work completely fine as is, just the folder navigation is cumbersome.

@BigIrn How do you add your VODs to Emby. Do you create a new library(s), or import it into your current Movie/TV Shows libraries?

I would like to import into my current libraries, so I can still use continue watching, but if I did that I would have duplicates

That would be a fantastic idea! I hope that is the goal, eventually merge VOD streams with Live, Movie, TV. I will set up a VM later today and test that theory. I'll take a few movies that I know are already duped in just the VOD section and see how it reacts to the same movie in the "official movie" section. Disclaimer, unless you back up your media religiously, do not try this at home lol

I'm still playing with the inclusion words. I should be able to just include or just exclude.

@gillmacca01Once I get this in a cleaner automated manner, I'll share with you my google sheet/Excel pivot table and report where you can plug in your media directory and compare it to the m3u output so you know you're capturing everything you want or where it's going. The log is great for basic troubleshooting but the verbose is overkill. There should be a happy medium with folders, hierarchy and count of media so you can do a quick sniff test.

Right on yeah I mentioned file locking really early on in this thread. I’m glad you got it working. I was afraid to open the log or make folder/file changes while it was running.
