embyoakey 2 Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 Hi I have a New Windows 11 PC, New Emby install, version - 4.8.10.0. Music Library has 7 folders, I have a user that I only want to be able to access just 3 of the seven folders. No matter what I do in the library access setting they either have the ability to view all the folders or nothing. Although at least they can't play the music they don't have access to as they cannot see the tracks, they can only browse the albums.
embyoakey 2 Posted February 12, 2025 Author Posted February 12, 2025 I'm having the same issue, has this not been fixed? This post is now over 12 months old.
Luke 42078 Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 Hi there @embyoakeycan you please show a specific example of what they are able to see? Thanks !
embyoakey 2 Posted February 14, 2025 Author Posted February 14, 2025 Hello, yes of course. I have been doing some more digging here and have more information on the issue. I have 7 folders that I use for Music, each of them for a specific Category/Genre. I simply tick only one category for the user to gain access, for this example "Classical--" Below is what the user can see in the "Folders" view and this is obviously correct This is what they can see in the Genres view and this is what they can see in the Albums view It appears that the folder view is indeed restricting access as per my users folder access settings, but as you can see they can still view/browse the albums under all the other different view types although they cannot see the audio tracks within. Im quite sure this didn't used to be the case? I have never used the folder view before to be honest so I only checked that today and noticed the restriction was correct in that view, I have only ever used the Genre View in the past so im pretty sure the restrictions worked at some point but i'm not sure when unfortunately. The issue for me is I have albums or even whole folders that I do not want certain users to even see in any view. I have used tags to restrict access completely for the user and that seems to work ok for now, although I am having issues with one specific album that simply won't hide, but that's a separate issue for me to work through. So I'm guessing it does work to an extent, but non of my users would ever use the folder view and I cannot force them to either. Let me know if you need anymore information. Thanks. Paul.
erikstell 0 Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 (edited) I have the same issue, specifically with an audiobook type library. My library is organized by genre into 5 folders, and I want a generic user to only have access to four of them. When I omit one of the folders in the "Access" tab for that user and I save the changes, the user still has access to the folder I wanted to omit. Logging out and logging back in doesn't fix the issue, neither does rescanning the library or restarting the entire app. It does appear to work on video type libraries.
