Lau6311 0 Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 After reading from internet info, selected Emby (v4.8.10.0 current) over Jellyfin and Plex as my media streaming app, 3 moths using TerraMaster F2-223 with TOS 5.0.154 then TOS 6.0.610. In both TOS 5 and 6, the pictures of each CD album, especially for whole album EACH song are randomly displaying wrongly. These are the original CD purchased from shops. The ripping of CD is by MS media player (legacy version) and mostly MS MP can obtain correct CD info from internet for proper CD picture display in HDD individual CD directories (folders). The problem happened about 20% of the album collection. Having tried ripping to PC HDD then transferred to NAS HDD (usual way) and alternatively ripping directly to designated NAS HDD, still getting some wrong CD album pictures uploaded by Emby. Most wrong pictures were from other ripped album. Why ripped pictures from other albums? (Pictures file format is JPG) Very frustrating to manually reloading the picture for EACH song of about few hundred problematic songs. Trying to upload picture to each album by selecting "edit picture" and loaded at "Primary", "Thumb" & "Arts" didn't solved the problem. Must edit each song with loading of picture to each song at "Primary, Thumb & Arts". Please see attached pictures. Thanks for helping..... Pic 1: Showing some albums collection Pic 2 showing correct album picture and each song picture correctly loaded with right pictures by Emby Pic 3 & 4: Showing correct album picture but all song pictures are wrong Note: Transferring from PC HDD (non NAS HDD) albums has album pictures (JPG) preloaded before copying to NAS HDD.
Lau6311 0 Posted February 12, 2025 Author Posted February 12, 2025 (Sorry, didn't know pic can be that BIG) Still facing very old problem of Emby (MS media player, MS file explorer): the Chinese language songs are displaying "???" characters (each "?" represented by 1 Chinese character. Did upload the Chinese fonts in Windows 11, no help. If anyone can solve this very OLD problem, much appreciated.
Luke 42077 Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 Hi, regarding the images, can you please show the complete screenshots rather than cutouts? I need to be able to see context, e.g. where you are in the app. Thanks !
Lau6311 0 Posted February 15, 2025 Author Posted February 15, 2025 Hi Luke, appreciating of your support. Below are a full FULL cut outs, hoping can resolve the persistent Emby "flaw" or my own mis-steps. Pic 5: "Full pic" of the very fist accessed Folders of Shared Music (not sure it helps to provide additional info) Pic 6: Bottom of Music Folder, the problematic is the Marked (Red) folder that contains mismatched song pics, initiated by Emby app without user intervention Pic 7: Is the opening of the designated Folder that contains all songs Pic 8: Showed opening of final songs folder, noted all song pics have wrong album/singer pics automatically designated by Emby app Notes: The transfer of albums is by Windows 11 file explorer from PC to TM NAS HDD. The CD ripping is by MS Media Player (Legacy version, as all songs are in WAV format for sound quality.) Good to know any required functions in the Emby app are required activation or deactivation to stop the wrong album metadata problem. THANK YOU!!
Lau6311 0 Posted February 15, 2025 Author Posted February 15, 2025 Note, about 70% of album data was correctly auto designated by MS Media Player after ripping. When album cover pics were not provided or wrongly selected (by MS MP), then would search from internet for loading to correct CD cover pics. TM NAS CD folder pic names are as "Poster" in JPG format. It does NOT work (for CD folder pic display) if named as "Folder", that would only work for my old WD EX2 NAS unit. Also Emby app only recognizes JPG by not PNG pic format (??), means the album folder pic in MS file explorer and Emby app will not be showed.
Lau6311 0 Posted February 15, 2025 Author Posted February 15, 2025 Hi, so I expect to see under the piano CD album, each song pic will represent THAT album cover pic, not a lady singer of my other album, that I did not upload the lady pic in the piano album. Just like, when I rip the U2 album, each song will not be messed up with a Metallica album pic. When it is a flaw of Emby, I prefer each song pic is "blank" rather that being interfered with no good meaning pics.
Luke 42077 Posted February 23, 2025 Posted February 23, 2025 What files are in the folders? How are your albums organized?
Lau6311 0 Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 Folders/albums structures: all albums at Shared Music directory, each album has it own directory with an album pic (JPG format named "Poster"), see attached pic. Note: After researching info, understand that WAV format is less friendly with metadata, but 60% albums did work out to show correct album pic and songs with correct album pics. However, the Emby flaw is that "it picked to have some wrong album pics from existing albums".
