nikolaienko 2 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 (edited) Hi everyone, I'm looking for help with setting up remote access to my Emby Server. First of all, I want to say that I have thoroughly studied the FAQ on this topic. I have checked the specified settings and made adjustments according to the step-by-step instructions, but unfortunately, my issue is still not resolved – it doesn’t work. I will attach screenshots to confirm my understanding of the settings. I apologize in advance: the interface of my devices is not in English. Also, please excuse my English, as this text is translated by AI. Lastly, I want to mention that my IT knowledge is quite basic, but I'm trying my best. Here is a list of my devices: TP-Link AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 – provides my home network. Synology NAS DS223j (DSM version 7.2.2-72806 Update 3) – connected to the home network via an Ethernet cable. HUAWEI HG8145V5 – a modem operating in bridge mode. Emby Server Version 4.8.8.0 - I was unable to install Emby Server 4.8.10.0. On my Synology NAS device, I installed the Emby Server application to set up a multimedia server. I managed to get everything up and running, and my media collection is accessible on all local devices within my home network. The problem occurs when I try to connect from outside my home (outside the local network). Even though the Emby application has Emby Connect services, where I registered and successfully linked all accounts to my Emby Server, remote access is not working. In the Emby Server internal settings, remote connections are enabled: Remote connections are allowed in my user account settings. In the router settings, UPnP was enabled by default. After checking UPnP, I restarted the server just in case and tested remote access – it didn’t help. Next, I followed the instructions for manual UPnP configuration. To do this, I disabled UPnP (as stated in the instructions). Next, I tested the external link – it doesn’t work! My test on canyouseeme.org was unsuccessful. Could this be because I haven't activated the static IP address service with my internet provider? After all, the Emby Connect service is supposed to bypass this requirement, just like Synology QuickConnect, right? Next, I ran a tracert 8.8.8.8 test in the Windows command prompt, and the result was quite good. I'm already desperate and don't know what else to try in the settings. Please help! Q-Droid 989 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 Is the WAN IP addr of the TP-Link AX5400 router the same as your Emby WAN URL and the address detected by canyouseeme.org? If not then double-check your modem and/or your ISP.

Q-Droid 989 Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 (edited) It looks like you're behind CGNAT. Your router has a 100./ WAN IP. Edited February 12, 2025 by Q-Droid 1

Neminem 1518 Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 Call your ISP and ask for a static ip or the price of a static ip. 1

It doesn't have to be fixed IP though it definitely has to be public. If you can't get a public IP then a different ISP or start looking into options for tunnel or VPN services.
