DonMacaroni 54 Posted February 9, 2025 Posted February 9, 2025 (edited) On Synology, Emby stores playlists in: /volume1/@appdata/EmbyServer/userplaylists Is it somehow possible to define new path to it, like for Cache and Transcoding-temp? Why I am asking it, is because I do have dedicated home folder created for Emby (internal) user and would like to store Playlists folder(s) in there, instead of the current location accessible only via command line. I have poked around in server settings and also in various config files, but have not spotted anything. Edited February 9, 2025 by DonMacaroni
Solution Carlo 4560 Posted February 12, 2025 Solution Posted February 12, 2025 There is not a built in way to do this but it would be possible to do via OS use of symlinks. This isn't something we can support as it's not something we test with new versions or with any interactions of the system. Proceed at your own risk is what I'd officially say. But I think you'll be fine if you understand symlinks or learn them as they aren't very hard to understand. I'd suggest doing a backup before making any chances. Carlo
Luke 42077 Posted February 12, 2025 Posted February 12, 2025 You can create your own music library folder and put playlists in that and the library scan will pick them up. But when you create playlists using the user interface in Emby, there is currently no configuration to control where they go.
DonMacaroni 54 Posted February 12, 2025 Author Posted February 12, 2025 @Carloyes can be done via symlinks, but it is abit unclear to me what would happen during update. Would it attempt to replace symlink with folder, fail or what would actually happen. @Lukethat part I know, question was more related to internally created playlists via Emby UI/Apps 1
Carlo 4560 Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 If you mean an Emby Update, it wouldn't even know the directory was symlinked. 1
