Libraries suddenly empty

After adding a new library with all my video files (but set to home videos because I wanted to watch *one* video and I couldn't do it in my other libraries because emby can't just give me a folder structure to select a file without adding metadata onto everything, even after disabling all meta feeders /rant), my older libraries were suddenly empty. I have deleted the new library but my older libraries remain empty. The folder image of each libary still shows the files within, but when opening, they're empty. Rescanning the libraries doesn't do anything. Restarting the server didn't do anything either.

In the log I see lots of errors but I have no clue what they mean.

Can anyone please help? :)

Hi, after you made these changes, have the library scans completed?

I would hope so, it's been days.

If you look at the log it says:

2025-02-06 21:43:15.248 Info TaskManager: Executing Scan media library
2025-02-06 21:43:15.263 Info TaskManager: Scan media library Completed after 0 minute(s) and 0 seconds
2025-02-06 21:43:38.391 Info App: Sqlite: 284 - automatic index on LastWatchedEpisodes(SeriesPresentationUniqueKey)
2025-02-06 21:43:41.000 Info App: Sqlite: 284 - automatic index on LastWatchedEpisodes(SeriesPresentationUniqueKey)
2025-02-06 21:43:43.825 Error Server: Error processing request

I did it again just now, and I get the same:

2025-02-07 11:19:43.901 Info TaskManager: Executing Scan media library
2025-02-07 11:19:44.012 Info TaskManager: Scan media library Completed after 0 minute(s) and 0 seconds

How many libraries do you or did you have as it sounds like overlapping paths issue.

This log appears to be one.

FileSystemWatcher for /volume4/Video

That could very well be the cause of the problem, as I said in the original post it started after creating a new library with *all* videos. I have two libraries: movies and series and they are subfolders of /volume4/video. But as there was a problem with a file I wanted to play, I added a new library which basically contained the videos of the existing libraries as well.

But I deleted that new library and now I'm left with nothing. Is there a fast way to rebuild, or do I need to start from scratch?

@Lukewon't OP have to remove all libraries and readd since parent folder was added and removed?

In the end I finally caved and just recreated the libraries.. that worked. Wouldn't call it a great solution, but I wanted to watch my shows again :P

Yes, parent and child libraries sort of break the database and pretty much force you start over from a library standpoint.  Not sure what safe guards the devs are working on to prevent this or at least a WARNING popup with consequences.

Jep it would be nice with a popup about those issues.

Some people don't get it, so a Warning should be in place.

Even if I use a pean cup, I can not count the times this has happened over the years.

Doing this should be OK as long as the library content type is the same among all the impacted libraries.

When it's not the same, then yes, obviously a warning dialog would be nice.
