chuwz 11 Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 Hi, I proposed this [Feature Request] three months ago passing subtitles to MX Player And it's so surprising that you guys implemented it in version 3.4.36! Thank you very much for your work! However, I found that the new version doesn't fully realize the expected result. As you can see, in the video: Emby selects the Chinese Simplified subtitle, but when I play it with MX Player, MX Player automatically selects the English Sub! This is simply because the video file of this TV program has subtitles in other languages embedded in it, which causes an error in Emby's subtitle delivery, MX Player's subtitle selection won't follow Emby's choice! Screenbits 2025-02-06_211808.mp4 And you can take a look at this: Emby Mod version by NoisyX, I go to the movie page, and Emby's subtitle option is Chinese Simplified, so far it's the same as the official version. Then when I play it in MX Player, the subtitles are automatically selected to Chinese Simplified! Screenbits 2025-02-06_212036.mp4 This proves that having MX Player's subtitle selection follow Emby is a perfectly doable thing! You may think that this is an irrelevant thing. Yes, when watching a movie, I can take 10 seconds to select the subtitles, but what if I'm watching a TV show? There are 12 episodes in a season of a TV program, and I can't possibly select the subtitles once for every episode of the TV program, for a total of 12 times, which is a headache! Anyway, I very much hope you guys can patch this Feature, it's a very important part of this feature! Thank you guys! (BTW, here's the .apk file for Emby Mod version by NoisyX, you can test it to your heart's content) Emby for Android_3.2.32_v17.41(Carnival).apk

In short, you introduced Support for passing subtitles to MX Player in 3.4.36, but this feature has a bug: Normally, I select "Chinese Simplified subtitles" in Emby, and MX Player should select "Chinese Simplified subtitles" automatically. But when the movie has embedded subtitles, MX Player automatically selects “other language subtitles”. That's the error I'm talking about. Subtitle following doesn't work.
Luke 42077 Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 OK please let us know how the next update compares. Thanks.
