chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 (edited) Finally have everyone on Emby for little over a month. Have had Plex uninstalled from the Installed Package Center, BUT have lingering files... How can I safely delete the PlexMediaServer and making sure that Emby is not installed under that folder? Is it as simple as: Control Panel - Shared Folders - Highlight “PlexMediaServer” - DELETE Wait for DSM to delete it. Edited February 6, 2025 by chrisrobbins1970 1
Carlo 4560 Posted February 11, 2025 Posted February 11, 2025 To remove Plex Media Server from your Synology NAS, follow these steps: 1. Uninstall the Plex Media Server package: Log in to your Synology NAS using DSM. Open Package Center. Locate Plex Media Server and click Uninstall. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation. 2. Remove the PlexMediaServer user (if it still exists): Go to Control Panel > Shared Folder. Select any shared folder and click Edit > Permissions. Change the user list from "Local users" to "System internal users". Check if the PlexMediaServer user is still there. If it is, you'll need to remove it via SSH or Task Scheduler. 3. (Optional) Remove any remaining Plex-related files and folders: This step is for advanced users who are comfortable using SSH. Enable SSH on your Synology NAS (Control Panel > Terminal & SNMP > Enable SSH service). Connect to your NAS via SSH using a terminal application. Use the synouser --del PlexMediaServer command to remove the user (if you didn't do it in step 2). Manually delete any remaining Plex-related files and folders (be careful when deleting system files).
