wo0zy 7 Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 Hi Guys, I live in an area where mobile signal strength is very patchy and available broadband speed to my house is woeful so connecting to my very stable and much loved home Emby server when travelling around is virtually impossible. Long story short, I've built a Raspberry Pi Emby Server with a local copy of the media I want (all music) when on the road and installed it in my car. The Pi connects to my mobile phone's Hotspot which allows the standard Android client to connect to the server, browse and play all content. Perfect! However once the phone connects to Android Auto I can still browse the library but as soon as I try to play anything I received the "Android Auto requires Emby Premiere" Error. My Premiere key is applied to the server and has been accepted. As per another similar thread that I found I've tried downloading a couple of songs from the server to the standard Android app and that works fine which makes me believe that the Premiere key is working. I've tried searching for a solution but other than the previous thread from 2023 I can't find much info. Does anyone have any immediate thoughts or suggestions? If not I'll upload logs. I've lived without this for years so not at all critical but having finally put the effort into getting this done it would be nice to see it through. Much love to the team for this wonderful software!
visproduction 315 Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 This does sound like it may be an Emby issue because you are already getting the error message. Does PI have any firewall settings that could be blocking access? Can Android be blocking access. There appear to be some hot spot network security settings. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=mobile+phone+android+hotspot+key+ID+blocked&df=m&ia=web
wo0zy 7 Posted February 3, 2025 Author Posted February 3, 2025 Thanks for the replay visproduction. Appreciated! No firewall enabled on the Pi. I'll test Internet access from the Pi through the Hotspot after work but I do know there's no site restrictions on my mobile contract. I'm with Vodafone UK and while there are controls I can enable, I haven't. Curious. Once Premiere has been confirmed does it need to "phone home" to stay active? Remember, this (and my home setup) is technically "internal". No port forwarding for "external" access, VPN or Emby Connect. Weird that everything works fine while sitting in the car (including the download feature) until AA is activated. Thanks again!
wo0zy 7 Posted February 3, 2025 Author Posted February 3, 2025 (edited) It works!! (mostly). Before leaving to drive home I cleared the Emby for Android cache/ data, uninstalled completely then re-installed. I then connected everything up in the car, signed into the server and was able to browse the library and start playback. No idea why this fixed it but I'm happy it did. I had cleared the cache before but never uninstalled/ re-installed. Now I need to start another thread asking why I can't scroll through the library or the tracks of the currently playing album because it shots me straight back to the top of the list as soon as I let go unless I stop playback first. There's always something isn't there . Edited February 3, 2025 by wo0zy 1
Neminem 1518 Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 Stop the car and try again, not sure if that helps, but never know. 1

jarome 1 Posted April 19, 2025 Posted April 19, 2025 Ahh. No one said I had to put the premiere key in the android app as well.
