mavack 1 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 Does anything specific stand out as problematic for the samsung app, the original just made the emby app hang, but worked perfectly fine on android/desktop. Not a fan of transcoding something that is already low bitrate. mavack 1 Posted January 29, 2025 Author Posted January 29, 2025 added debug log of file not working, file in question is andy and the band S01E0X anything S01, S02 works perfectly fine without transcode but that file is also slightly different again. Not sure why none of the S01 files worked before transcoding. embyserver.txt
SamES 1056 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 Were there any ffmpeg logs? This helps us to understand why it was transcoding
mavack 1 Posted January 30, 2025 Author Posted January 30, 2025 No ffmpeg file created for this play attempt, i have others for other files that got to remove clients. I just reverted the file to the non-working one and left it running, it actually crashes the server and restarted, not sure if you can make anything from the log. I did remove some of the library refresh stuff but looks like ffmpeg may have crashed? I had never let the video run long enough to get this log. embyserver (2).txt

I can't really see anything obvious in the logs. It shouldn't be crashing the server.
mavack 1 Posted January 31, 2025 Author Posted January 31, 2025 i have the file to re test is there anything specific you want me to try and gather? I"ll run it again and turn whatever on as its reproducable

You can send me a PM with a link to the file on Dropbox, Googledrive, etc
mavack 1 Posted February 1, 2025 Author Posted February 1, 2025 Thanks SamES, Have PMed you 30 seconds of the file to test, like i said works everywhere except the samsung TV, everything else works perfectly fine and this is the first file i have needed to pre transcode with ffmpeg.

Thanks. Did you conform that this 30 seconds sample still causes a crash?
mavack 1 Posted February 2, 2025 Author Posted February 2, 2025 I confirmed that it doesn't play, i just did try to trigger the crash again however couldn't get it with the 30 second or any of the others in the same season that do it. It was odd last time only reason i noticed it was the webui died and was unreachable for the 5 seconds while i was trying to check the logs and when it came back i saw that it has reset the times in the log and you can see the startup. 1

Thanks. I can reproduce this issue. I suspect it is just a badly encoded file. While VLC and other players might play it, TV's are usually much stricter as to what they can play. With limited processing power, they are not as capable or tolerant in dealing with files that are not optimally encoded. If I wait long enough for it to fail playback and retry other playback methods, eventually it does trans code and playback, I would suggest using Handbrake or some other program to reencode the file to a compatible format.
