Emby Premiere : Roku Ultra - Less convoluted way of finding all the movies that a specific actor has been in??

This is Emby Server 4.8.10.0 with a current version ROKU ULTRA. The ROKU may in itself be the problem, as I'm not seeing some of the things that Google and CoPilot have suggested that I should. (I was flipping a coin trying to decide between the ROKU and an Apple TV 4k with Infuse)

Long story short: Luke suggested searching by actor for all of their movies instead of manually creating Collections of their movies as I had been doing. (That was an unwelcome chore as you might imagine.)

As it now stands, going into the Movies library and searching doesn't turn up ANY actor names, but it does great with the actual Movies.

Trying to get some kind of result, I go into my Movies library and:

- Try to think of a movie an actor has been in; say Denzel Washington. (Which is sometimes a challenge for an old guy.)

- I click on that movie, scroll down to Cast & Crew and click on Denzel

- Scroll down another row and there are his movies

It seems like there must be a better way than this, so I'm hoping that someone might be able to help de-muddle my thinking and show me the way.

I'm not sure why you get no results when searching, but it seems that is what needs to be addressed.

Do you get the same 'no results' when searching with another client? A web browser for example? I wonder if it's just the Roku client that's the problem.

Hi.  Exactly how are you searching?

On my HTPC, using the EDGE browser to access Emby Server, I have a Search icon right below the HOME icon and from there I can find any actors that I want, including the elusive Denzel.

It's on the ROKU that I absolutely can not see another way to find actors EXCEPT by the process that I described in my post. I'm starting to think that my coin-toss purchase decision didn't turn out with optimal results. 🙂

To be clear, it works well on my HTPC, using the EDGE browser to access Emby Server, I have a Search icon right below the HOME icon and from there I can find any actors that I want, including the elusive Denzel.

ON the Roku Ultra app...

OH BOY, there it is. In getting my steps for this post, I figured it out, after a couple hours of banging my head:

I was going into the MOVIES library, where NO actors could be found using the Search icon there. When I just now did a search from the MAIN-START page, THAT search icon found him.

I'm so sorry for this. Thank you both for your attempt to help. As they say, though, you can't fix stupid. 🙄

That must mean that whatever library you were in didn't have any of his movies.

The search I showed you from my system was within my Movies library.

@ebr

Well, that's the thing though. I have the parent library folder of MOVIES and in that folder each movie is in it's own folder. After much work to make it happen, every folder is now named consistently, such as "Training Day (2001) [tmdbid=2034]"

When I search in the Movies library using the search icon at the very top, I get nothing, as shown in the screen capture. BUT, when I search from the main start page using the search icon at the top of the screen there, I DO find the actor and their movies.

I am now super happy and actually kind of glad for the trouble over the past few days after I renamed pretty much every file and folder. NOW I have automatic collections and an easy way to find specific actors and their movies, instead of doing all of that manually AND having to manually maintain everything as new content was added.
