Mao899 2 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 For the few days I played around with Jellyfin, the one feature that DID work, and was great (Plex can do this as well) was the ability to set up an API to sync playlists with Spotify playlists. Would be a nice touch for Emby to have a plugin for this as well. All my existing playlists I had created on Spotify were available on both platforms, I just needed to populate my server with the relevant audio files.
Luke 42077 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 Hi, since Emby supports normal m3u playlists, you don't really need an Emby-specific plugin. You really just need a tool to create m3u playlists from your spotify account. Of course you will also need the music in your emby library. do you have that?
Mao899 2 Posted January 29, 2025 Author Posted January 29, 2025 (edited) The ones I'm referring to are live playlist sync modules. When you add it to your Spotify playlist, it updates my Jellyfin and Plex playlists automatically - you would of course need a local copy of the track. Edited January 29, 2025 by Mao899

Maybe one of those can just be adapted to sync the changes to regular m3u playlists? Then you'd probably have one tool that would work for any music player. That isn't to say that we couldn't develop such a thing, but I think it makes more sense to just sync spotify to m3u files.
Luke 42077 Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 and voila, it seems like there is a plethora of such tools already: https://github.com/aquaflamingo/spotify-exporter https://github.com/Laharah/redlist https://github.com/Jonnobrow/spotify2m3u https://github.com/navidrome/navidrome/issues/1914 Export to m3u files in a folder that is part of an emby music library. Run a library scan in Emby and it should pick them up.
Mao899 2 Posted February 3, 2025 Author Posted February 3, 2025 Yeah, there are a bunch. Was just looking for the same integration that Plex and Jellyfin have, set it and forget it. No manual importing required.
Luke 42077 Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 Emby Server's backing store for playlists is m3u files anyway, so I wouldn't look at using a standalone tool as an inferior approach.
Mao899 2 Posted February 3, 2025 Author Posted February 3, 2025 (edited) All I use is a container called PlaylistSync, it automatically syncs Spotify playlists into Plex, and Jellyfin integrates through an API. Add a track in Spotify, it's added to the playlist in those 2 apps. No idea what the playlist format is, they're just there. Any chance I can get some resolution to the problem I'm having with playback controls on Cast/Play On? I'd really like to move forward with continuing to use Emby. So far it's not very useful to me without those controls. Edited February 3, 2025 by Mao899 1
Mao899 2 Posted February 3, 2025 Author Posted February 3, 2025 It does look like this one you suggested might do the job, it does look like it might do "live" updates to an .m3u playlist. I'll check it out. https://github.com/Laharah/redlist 1

Mao899 2 Posted February 4, 2025 Author Posted February 4, 2025 You might be on to something there...it was a plugin for Jellyfin if I remember right, I'll have to see it can port over to Emby...
gihayes 47 Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 A plugin would be cool. I currently use Lidaar to sync with my Spotify playlist to get files, and Soundiiz to sync those Spotify playlist on Emby. It all hands free once setup.

Install the Spotify Playlist plugin, set it up and you don't even have to waste time with Soundiiz, and it's free. I'm done with Emby and the total lack of support for paid features.

brothom 177 Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 I would also like this. But then again, I would also like to see some support for YouTube playlists. Could these features be created together maybe?
Brittneyball 1 Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 I would also like this. I currently use Lidaar to sync with my Spotify playlist to get files, and Soundiiz to sync those spotify premium apk modfyp playlist on Emby. It all hands free once setup.
