dyecast 6 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 (edited) I was watching a 4k movie and it froze ~33 minutes in. Server states I stopped playing it - Nope. When trying to restart the video, the blue circle of loading came up and looped indefinitely. I'm on the LAN from my Mac using the Brave browser. The only transcoding I saw it doing was for audio. It was playing everything else Direct. 2025-01-27_ffmpeg-remux-da2be642-81a7-4a60-add3-cd309aa56581_1.txt 2025-01-27_embyserver.txt 2025-01-27_ffmpeg-remux-6d2e4e96-831d-425b-b111-43c91e81811d_1.txt 2025-01-27_ffmpeg-transcode-cfc8c791-51b7-4bac-ade0-1d552e246f26_1.txt 2025-01-27_hardware_detection-63873582538.txt Edited January 28, 2025 by dyecast
dyecast 6 Posted January 28, 2025 Author Posted January 28, 2025 When trying to play something else after encountering this issue with the Sonic movie, I got the same looping circle.
dyecast 6 Posted January 28, 2025 Author Posted January 28, 2025 Only after a full reboot of the server would the 4k videos even begin to replay. It seems whatever caused the video to stop playing also crashed a service Emby uses that didn't come back online.
dyecast 6 Posted January 28, 2025 Author Posted January 28, 2025 (edited) Played the movie again. Froze again at 1:21:18. Newest logs attached. I had to completely restart Emby again to get any other 4k videos to play. It seems the audio transcoding component might be the best place to start as the video component is playing direct. 2025-01-27a_embyserver.txt 2025-01-27a_ffmpeg-remux-fb9d614b-61d3-4557-b44f-fdf8fa35abd4_1.txt Edited January 28, 2025 by dyecast
Carlo 4560 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 Hi, Looking at your logs I'm seeing the reason for Transcode is AudioCodecNotSupported. It's taking a 7.1 or 5.1 audio track and converting it to MP3 stereo. The media file itself has an AC3 stereo track that I believe will play back on a Mac using Brave or Safari. Try selecting this audio track to see if it will playback in Brave. Try it in Safari as well. If this doesn't work upload the logs from playback and describe exactly what happened when you tried to playback the media.

I finished watching the movie later, but the problem occurred at least two more times before the whole movie was over
Carlo 4560 Posted February 1, 2025 Posted February 1, 2025 Have you tried manually selecting the stereo audio track in Safari?
