Playback stops - but timer continues

Emby Android App 3.4.20

When playing media, occasionally and frequently it will seemingly freeze (audio stops, picture freezes on a frame). However the timer bar indicating progress through the episode continues. This can be resolved by either advancing 10 seconds or by restarting playback. 

No error messages. 

Is there a way I can fix this? Or any workarounds?
