SmiddyJR 2 Posted January 26, 2025 Posted January 26, 2025 My original Ubuntu VM cannot be recovered but i was able to get into part of its disk, so built a new VM and copied out the /var/lib/emby directory from the original Fresh install of Emby went fine and fresh Emby was available on standard port, I shutdown and renamed the /var/lib/emby and moved the recovered folder in its place. I then restored the ownership to the emby user and verified via Sudoing emby user that the folders are accessible. But whenever I start emby it stops immediately, the emby logs are also not showing anything useful. I have also tried to turn on debug logging in the systemxml to no avail. Have I missed something obvious here? If not how can I turn up the logging to find out what its not happy about. I can swap the fresh /var/lib/emby in and the service starts fine on port 8096. So its definitely something with the transferred directory. Been at this for hours and not getting anywhere! sudo systemctl status emby-server Jan 26 22:12:13 emby-server systemd[1]: Started Emby Server is a personal media server with apps on just about every device. SmiddyJR 2 Posted January 26, 2025 Author Posted January 26, 2025 Sigh..... Two files didnt take the chown recursive I issued to the emby directory. opensubtitles.xml and system.xml Fixing this has allowed the service to start normally. Post can be archived/deleted but I cant see how 1
