The movie posters are not displaying properly.

Hello everyone,

I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for all the support and assistance I’ve received over the past two months since returning to Emby. I stepped away from the world of media centers back in 2013, and coming back has been quite a journey.

That said, I’ve encountered a small challenge: my entire library is currently set up in the Media Browser 2 and Media Browser 3 formats, which, as of 2024, are no longer supported by Emby.

The issue I’m currently facing is that when I add a new hard drive to my Emby server library and it gets scanned, many of the movies display their posters as banners or disc formats instead of the standard or HD poster view.

Please see this screenshot for example

Now what happing is after Emby scan my movies is is either create a disc view

Or it create this odd looking image for a movie

so currently i did some test and only way i found to fix it is by deleting all files except for movie file and SRT if any then scan library then Emby display everything correctly for that library. This method is ok when i have 5 movies showing up incorrectly but when i have a HHD with 190 movies and 30% are like that this does cause an issue

Here is example of my old 2012 format setup that i used back with Media browser

Oddly enought this format does not bother PLEX everything is working fine with plex and Kodi XBMC

but Emby does not like it.

Please note: I did Run MCM and Tiny Media as test and did not help with Emby

So what can i do to automate this process? How do you guys handle this issue ? is there is a scripts or plugin for data clean up?  please advise

That typically indicates that Emby cannot recognize/does not have accès to primary (poster-type) image, usually down to naming convention used:

Quote

Video images

Images are supported in video folders. Below is a table of the supported image file names. Supported image extensions are jpg, jpeg, png, gif and tbn.

Several image types support multiple file names. They are listed in the order that they're checked for.

Image Type Supported file names
Primary {name}.ext
  {name}-poster.ext
  {name}-cover.ext
  {name}-default.ext
  {name}-movie.ext
  folder.ext
  poster.ext
  cover.ext
  default.ext
  movie.ext

That is a screen grab, you likely have Image Capture library image fetcher enabled. Can you post Zero Dark Thirty folder contents/OS view?

That should work alright, artwork files are properly named, but you appear to have multiple NFOs there?

Yes we may need to see the content of the folder as it suggests the poster image is wrong with media.  I see you listed folder content but may need to change view to show the actual images within the folder.

Hi, what exactly did you do?

Long story short the hard drive that had movies in it I manually deleted all .nfo, xmls, sample video, posters , jpg and png and anything else. Like this each movie folder 📂 had movie 🎬  a trailer and srt only then I added to emby and scan the library again and all movies display correctly. This hard drive that I added to my library was 3tb about 195 movies so it was long day and hours of manual cleaning 😅

Hello All,

I still need a sloution for this issue since i am going to add 3 more drives with movies in them and they all have old data which mean i will run into same issue

Can we look at one example of what Emby shows and the content of that media folder.  As what you have shown shows nothing wrong unless the physical poster/folder image is wrong.

But have never really done too much testing with the multiple formatted metadata you have in your folders.

I guess I could enable all them in MCM and see if I bet different results but honestly doubt I will.
