Lazarus_Long 80 Posted January 24, 2025 Posted January 24, 2025 Considering giving Emby a try again and wondering what the best client device to use would be? In the past I've used Fire TV 4K MAX sticks and they seemed to work OK, just wondering if they would still be good for our use case? I also have Apple TV 4K devices (most recent gen), but I believe the tvOS app still has issues auto-switching refresh rate/HDR ? That's pretty much a showstopper. We watch a variety of content, 4K Remuxes with Dolby Vision/HDR content (along with your normal 1080p stuff - a lot of X265 stuff but also dipping toes into AV1). I know previously we did run into some issues with the Fire TV sticks and high bandwidth content, but that's been a couple of years now. And just to say ahead of time, not interested in a Shield - their hardware is getting pretty old nowadays.
RanmaCanada 494 Posted January 24, 2025 Posted January 24, 2025 This has been asked multiple times and the answer is always the same. Currently the Shield is still the best, period. Since you're not interested, best to wait until the Switch 2 gets released and see if Nvidia releases an updated Shield as both use the same hardware.
