No sound on Tesla Browser

I'm quite new to the Emby world but I have been enjoying high quality movies on my Apple TV and MacBook. Disclaimer, I'm using someone else's Emby server so I have no control of the server side. I would really want to access the Emby library via my Tesla Browser while waiting in the parking lot. Currently, I followed advices such as using Testube or ABetterTheatre to logon to the Emby web app, and starts a movie. For 4K movies, I'm not able to open at all, as it complains that there is no available streams. For 1080p, most of the videos can be played, but there is no audio no matter what the format is. Is it something to do with the configuration on the server side only? For those of you who managed to get it working, could you please share some advice?

Have you seen this?

I have a Model Y but I've never reliably had Emby working in the car.

Hi @CBers, yes I have seen the post, and followed the trick to use Testube and ABetterTheater but none of them solved the audio issue. I'll find a time to get some more information from the screen today and report back.

After trying out a few different servers over the weekend, I found out that it's more probably due to how codec is setup on the server side since I can get audio on some servers. Initially I thought 4K was not supported, but I managed to play 4K hevc and AAC stereo successfully on my model Y.

I'm having issues with sound as well and just getting one channel playing in the movie 5.1 audio--sounds like center channel only.

I cannot get it to convert to stereo mode - to force 2 channel audio (or whatever will play in the car) any ideas?

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

  1. Its only playing the center channel of 5.1 sound movie.
  2. Stereo audio movie plays fine.
  3. Trying to force 2 channel output does not work.
  4. Presume its tesla browser and you cant do anything about it.

What do you mean by trying to force 2 channels? How are you doing that?

under settings / web settings / playback / audio remote streaming quality - it was suggested that I could change the streaming quality of the audio - - it says 'auto' and has a drop down but pressing it does nothing.

Well that's not true. It does do something, but it's a bitrate option. It doesn't have any relation to the number of audio channels.

the UI suggests pressing the down arrow that says 'auto' would reveal more options but it does not. I was hoping that knocking down the audio quality could turn it to stereo.

It sometimes can, but it just depends on a lot of factors. There isn't a dedicated option in the web app to force a conversion to stereo.

It sounds like this is something that could help here.
