sweetmslily 5 Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 Hi folks. Since the new Xbox app dropped in December I've been having issues with this. No settings have changed on the server side, but I've lost video transcoding on the Series X when playing back AV1 files. You can hear the file playing but there is no video. Transcoding works fine on the other Xbox One S we have with the same version of the app, and other apps like the LG TV app still have transcoding working fine. The server is hosted on an iMac running Sequoia. By going into the Decoding options on the Xbox app I was able to select "ForceFfmpegSoftwareDecoder" and that has made video work again for playback, but this fix wasn't required on the Xbox One S, so I'm not sure what's wrong. Maybe it's a Microsoft issue. Anyway, I've included screenshots of the version information for the app on the Series X and a screenshot showing the selected software decoder. Let me know if there's anything else I can provide that helps.
softworkz 5066 Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 The ForceSystemDecoder setting is needed on Xbox One*** models but not on Xbox Series S|X models. But for the former it should be set automatically. Didn't that happen in your case?
zackalak 0 Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 I am also having issues with AV1 playback on the Xbox Series X. Setting it to "Force ffmpeg software decoding" fixes the video, but it really struggles to keep up with 4k content.
softworkz 5066 Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 Which version do you have installed there?
