Ingo 6 Posted January 19, 2025 Posted January 19, 2025 I had some audiobooks that had the Author details wrong. Managed to correct the Tags and Emby picked up the correct authors as well but under my authors it still shows the incorrect one as well. how can i remove / delete these incorrect authors Also would be great to have a "Read By" field / Tag in the metadata
Luke 42078 Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 Hi there. If you click on the artist, what is assigned to them?
Ingo 6 Posted January 25, 2025 Author Posted January 25, 2025 Apologies for the late reply i forgot to follow the post. i have a Artist [PZG] that should not exist if i select it i see the following If I open the Physical location of this specific book, there is a Album.nfo file. the contents of this file is as below <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <album> <review /> <outline /> <lockdata>false</lockdata> <dateadded>2025-01-12 11:23:25</dateadded> <title>The Inheritance Cycle #5 - Murtagh: The World of Eragon</title> <year>2023</year> <sorttitle>Inheritance Cycle #5 - Murtagh: The World of Eragon</sorttitle> <runtime>1472</runtime> <genre>audiobook</genre> <artist>Christopher Paolini</artist> </album> The artist [PZG] is not listed in the file. if i go back one folder into the Author there ia a author.nfo file with this content <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <artist> <biography /> <outline /> <lockdata>false</lockdata> <dateadded>2024-02-18 16:17:00</dateadded> <title>Christopher Paolini</title> <sorttitle>Christopher Paolini</sorttitle> <runtime>9461</runtime> <genre>audiobook</genre> <genre>Other</genre> <uniqueid type="discogsartist">431122</uniqueid> <discogsartistid>431122</discogsartistid> <uniqueid type="musicbrainzartist">84bf895b-ec07-40ee-9783-60b2d6b3f614</uniqueid> <musicbrainzartistid>84bf895b-ec07-40ee-9783-60b2d6b3f614</musicbrainzartistid> <album> <title>Eragon #1 Eragon</title> </album> <album> <title>Eragon #2 Eldest</title> <year>2005</year> </album> <album> <title>Eragon #3 Brisingr</title> <year>2008</year> </album> <album> <title>Eragon #4 Inheritance</title> </album> <album> <title>To Sleep in a Sea of Stars</title> <year>2020</year> </album> </artist> I also cant find the [PZG] reference here. dont know where to look for now.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 25, 2025 Posted January 25, 2025 You will have to look at what ffprobe shows embedded on the file. As nfo metadata is somewhat meaningless. ffprobe -i "pathtotrack" Or potentially extended tags in mp3tag but in the end it is what ffprobe sees as that is what is used to probe the media.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted January 25, 2025 Posted January 25, 2025 Also what is your structure and naming scheme?
Ingo 6 Posted January 25, 2025 Author Posted January 25, 2025 Running Windows based server so im not certain how to run this command ffprobe -i "pathtotrack" as for naming scheme Main folder is Author name sub folder is book title (or series name and book title) in folder audio file. Example "\\AUDIOBOOKS\Fiction\Fiction-ENG\Christopher Paolini\The Inheritance Cycle #5 - Murtagh The World of Eragon\Murtagh꞉ The World of Eragon.m4b" I use MP3Tag editor to check Tags before uploading files into the media server unfortunate in for this file i initially missed that the Artist was wrong. I have reloaded it with the correct tag bit the incorrect Artist is still showing

Ingo 6 Posted January 26, 2025 Author Posted January 26, 2025 so I managed to run the ffprobe, and it seems the artist is still incorrect here. Album Artist is still on [PZG] now the question is how do i change that [mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2 @ 00000101a69524c0] stream 0, timescale not set Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'Y:\AUDIOBOOKS\Fiction\Fiction-ENG\Christopher Paolini\The Inheritance Cycle #5 - Murtagh The World of Eragon\Murtagh - The World of Eragon.m4b': Metadata: major_brand : isom minor_version : 512 compatible_brands: isomiso2mp41 track : 1/64 hd_video : 0 genre : Audiobook date : 2023 copyright : ©2023 Random House (P)2023 Listening Library title : Murtagh encoder : [PZG] disc : 04.5 grouping : The Inheritance Cycle composer : Christopher James Paolini comment : Master storyteller and internationally bestselling author Christopher Paolini returns to the World of Eragon in this stunning epic fantasy set a year after the events of the Inheritance Cycle. Neminem 1519 Posted January 26, 2025 Posted January 26, 2025 (edited) You should use Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v2, MP4, OGG, FLAC, ...) to remove album artist : [PZG] Or add Christopher Paolini as album artist Edited January 26, 2025 by Neminem
Ingo 6 Posted January 26, 2025 Author Posted January 26, 2025 I have Used MP3tag editor and if i open it there all is correct so is there a different way i can change it?
Ingo 6 Posted January 26, 2025 Author Posted January 26, 2025 Since in mp3Tag the "Album Artist" is empty i thought let me enter the artist in there to see if it will override the field in the background. ran the ffprobe and now there are 2 album artist fields the one i edited v(new in Green) and the one that is incorrect (in red) artist : Christopher Paolini album_artist : Christopher Paolini album artist : [PZG] album : The Inheritance Cycle #5 - Murtagh: The World of Eragon
Solution Neminem 1519 Posted January 26, 2025 Solution Posted January 26, 2025 If you right click on the media file in mp3tag and select Advanced tags. You should see a lot more info. 1
