Retro games possible in 2024?

Hi, new emby user. Been playing for about 1 week and it's incredible for local media.

Games was definitely one of the selling points but after a lot of digging through old threads and guides it seems game playing isn't possible? I'm a bit confused because there's the option to add games libraries. 

If it is possible, is there an updated guide somewhere?

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes, gamebrowser is installed. And I can see games we've added

But as far as setting up a launcher I can't seem to see any options. Tutorials talk about Emby Theatre for an external player? I'm not sure if this is what we're supposed to do as the information seems a bit old. If I'm running emby server don't I already have theatre? Either way I don't see the option to add external players

Feel like I'm missing something obvious.

I thought maybe I'd need to make sure certain file extensions are enabled or something. Maybe since I'm trying to load a SMC file the browser wasn't recognising the file as an executable.

On my mac desktop I'm able to execute this rom and it will just start playing.

 

When adding/editing a Game library there is an 'advanced settings' toggle. Enabling this doesn't reveal any new options. 

Feel like there should be more options here?

Hi, try removing the /snes subfolder from Emby library setup. You don't need that and the parent folder at the same time.

It’s awesome for keeping your collection neat, but Emby doesn’t support launching or streaming games directly yet. Spent some time trying to figure this out, got a bit hopeful because of the games tab, but it’s mostly just a fancy catalog for now. [redacted]
