alexchosid 0 Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 I just moved my Emby server from a Windows machine to TrueNAS. The server is up and running from a backup, all media is visible in the Web UI. However, even inside my network when I try to connect to the server, I get the message "Unable to Reach [Server Name]. We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." I run both Plex and Emby and Plex is accessible without issue.
Luke 42077 Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 Hi @alexchosidhow exactly are you trying to connect?
alexchosid 0 Posted January 15, 2025 Author Posted January 15, 2025 I've tried connecting through a Roku, an Apple TV, and the iOS app. All give the same errror. A remote user reported the same with the iOS app.
rotational467 43 Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 (edited) Since you restored from a backup to a different device, possibly a setting in the Network config needs to be updated like local IP or certificate path? Can you hit the server with a web browser (particularly one that's running locally on the new emby server)? You may need to inspect/edit the system config directly if you can't get into the webUI, you'll find the network settings in the system.xml file (linux default is /var/lib/emby/config) Edited January 15, 2025 by rotational467
alexchosid 0 Posted January 16, 2025 Author Posted January 16, 2025 I've spent a bit more time working, it seems like this is likely some manner of TrueNAS network configuration. I went into the app settings and checked the box for "Host Network" and now it's visible within my network, but not to remote connections. I've always had access to the WebUI, it just wasn't visible anywhere beyond that.

For remote access, now you probably want to look at port forwarding in your router.
