Library Scan's Extremely Slow and Long

My TV Show library has been setup and scanned for over a week. So I would consider it stabilized. But every time a scan is done, it takes hours to complete. The little circle with the percentage will stay at 91%, crawl to 92% etc. In the meantime, the many of TV series thumbnails are 'blank' until the process is done. I think this also accounts for why my recordings seem to take overnight to show up.

Coming from years of using Kodi with the same infrastructure, where the scans complete in minutes to no more than 10 minutes, I am puzzled and a bit, no, a lot disappointed. It is looking like it would be quicker just to create a small subset of my collection for her to watch.

I find it difficult to believe it is normal for it to be so lengthy.

Well I axed all my libraries last night except one small one for my wife. Just couldn't get it past my head that Kodi would do the same thing (scans within minutes) and Emby would take so long.

I am willing to try again. What are the real expectations for scans after an initial setup?

All my movies and shows have the artwork and .nfo files in the same directories. Emby should not have to do much leg work except read them. My new content I've been adding is on the light side , but any change seems to be long and slow.

I have 272 TV shows, not all fully populated and about 10k movies.

Even when I turn real time monitoring off, it seems to scam all libraries when I just selected one to scan.

I am not a quitter. So if I can get there with Emby, I will.  I just need to know if my current Emby setup can do better especially as I see how Kodi can do the same thing within minutes.

It generally comes down to what features are enabled on the library. If you can provide the server log then we might be able to offer some suggestions to speed up your scans.
