davedick 19 Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Example: Global upload = 150 Mbps. I have 3 users playing the same video, where the video is sending to each at 50 Mbps (direct play), thus upload is fully used 4th user wants to watch the same. Since the upload is technically full, 4th would either need to transcode a lot or possibly have issues playing i.e. buffering What happens to the playback of the other 3? I'm trying to figure out if the other 3 would automatically go from direct play to transcoding to even out the speed between the 4 users or the other 3 would continue to direct play unless the user stops/pauses or video completes.

Emby has no adaptive playback so one something starts that is what they maintain. Have a read here as it is discussed/explained by the devs. Adaptive streaming - Feature Requests - Emby Community
