TastyPomme 7 Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Happy New Year all, I'm having trouble getting IPTV channels to play consistently on my Emby server. I've read similar posts but haven't found a solution yet. Here's my setup: Emby Server: 4.8.10.0 running on Nvidia Shield Pro (2019 model) Clients: Emby app for Android TV on Shield Pro Emby app for Apple TV on Apple TV 4K Emby app for Android (with VLC as external player) on Android TV IPTV Source: m3u lists from IPTV-org (tried multiple lists with the same result) When I try to watch an IPTV channel, it takes a while to load, then plays for a few seconds (sometimes up to a minute) before stopping. I've tried adjusting the video playback settings in the Emby app without any luck. The strange thing is, it works perfectly on the Emby Android app when using VLC as an external player. I also tried the Dream Player IPTV app on the Shield, and that works fine too. I've submitted logs to the Emby devs from the Android TV app. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! ffmpeg-directstream-c26134a2-6e78-40ed-9fd3-bf344ef1997f_1.txt embyserver.txt ffmpeg-directstream-10490578-cdce-4f63-843f-e0afee141128_1.txt 1
mammt 5 Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 (edited) yeah same issue on web, it takes like 10-15 seconds to first load the stream then after it finished loading it plays fine for like 3-4 seconds and it gets stuck for a couple of seconds then it watches fine Edited January 9, 2025 by mammt
Luke 42077 Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 HI, we'll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting.
bobgatchel 1 Posted January 11, 2025 Posted January 11, 2025 Yeah I'm having a similar issue, and figuring it may be a combination of things. My situation: (sorry to possibly hijack, but it's a similar situation) Running IPTV through Threadfin with GlueTun VPN on Synology NAS) and Emby Server on the same NAS (Yeah, I know I need a better server HAHA Emby stream starts on TV in about 10 seconds, plays for about 20 minutes and freezes. I am going to do a log check and see what happens, but will be watching this thread. 1

The ShieldTV Pro IMHO is ok for a small library or a light use with a couple of streams in formats that don't require a lot of transcoding or tone mapping as the hardware is limited in transcoding power as well as has limited IO resources available to use. It sounds like you're right on the border of it almost working but don't have enough resources to be reliabe. Have you tried installing Emby Server on a PC?
TastyPomme 7 Posted January 15, 2025 Author Posted January 15, 2025 Hi @Carlo@Luke Were my logs reviewed? All movies are running fine on my internal only and light use Shield Pro server. I have no intention to run it on a PC or a NAS again. So I would expect IPTV at 720p/540p to run smoothly and not to stop after 3 seconds and then restart for at most a minute.
